Y never really thought of X as more than just a friend. Then one day, X got jealous of a woman who Y wasn't even with and decided from there to make the whole "love" proposition to Y.
On the one hand, the idea of starting a relationship with X is weird to Y and Y doesn't really like the idea of it. But then on the other hand, because X has known Y for so long, X knows how to pull Y's strings.
Y has tried talking to X about it, but anything Y says X will already have a response to. X already has the whole scenario thought out and any question Y has, X will respond to with another question to make Y think. Some of the difficult life questions X presented to Y with the relationship proposition has Y's head spinning.
I think X is smarter than Y too. What if Y turns X down and then somehow realizes that there are feelings he has for X? Knowing X, X won't give Y a second chance most likely.
