Basically my guide arrived yesterday, and it is only a 200 odd page guide, and im upto page 100 already after 11 hours game play, just got the aeon after mushroom trail place, the temple where it only opens when a summoner is in there, am i close to the end of the story??? also, in my guide it says in the stratergy to kill the Sin Spawn that has escaped from the trap to lure Sin, that LuLu Should of learnt Fira yet she hasnt is it learnt from the Sphere grid? im thinking on my first play through ive done terrible, as it takes me a while to kill stuff, and tht if im over half way through the story i am going to get owned soon ^^, i understand that when the story is finished you can just go where you want to unlock all the secrets and the weapons for each char, just kinda blows if im near the story end :( and am still as week as i am, only 3 charss have over 1000hp and im not dealing alot of damage at all, 300 on average, am i on track or have imessed up somewhere? and can u just travel around when story is finished? thanks, this is the first time ive played FF-X, thanks guys,

11 hours is only about a 5th or 6th of the way into the game. And you may have to AP grind at some point. In order for a member of your party to gain exp from a battle, they need to have attacked an enemy. No battle participation = no exp = no AP = no Fira for Lulu. Also each type of enemy is weak against a certain attack. Heavily defended enemies should be attacked by Auron; enemies like Flan should be taken out by elemental magic from Lulu; and flying enemies should be taken out by Wakka, and so on. That may help with your damage if anything.

And be sure you're using the sphere grid right. I was bad with it the first half of the game. I was wasting AP on slots I didn't need to use AP to move past :lew: Online FAQs are also more helpful than the guide book. I've heard that one wasn't too informative.

As helpull as ever :D, yeh i went blindly into the sphere grid like an idiot, thanks for the heads up gunna have a read now, and i am going to play through it many times, so i will learn from my mistakes!

To add on to this...

Armored enemies = Auron
Flans = Lulu (magic)
Flying enemies = Wakka
Quick enemies (meaning they evade a lot) = Tidus
Mechanical enemies = Rikku (using steal on them is an insta-kill)
Generally tough enemies = Yuna (summons)

But yeah, unlike previous games where whoever was in your party got XP and stuff, this game requires members to take an action (I think defending counts as well) in order to get XP and AP.

You are around a quarter of the way through the game in my estimation, well the storyline anyways. Don't worry too much if the guide is saying you need X or Y, if you are doing fine yourself then that's ok. I find the guides always recommend high-level stuff very early, so just play as you are and grind(level-up) if you get beaten really easily in certain places or by certain bosses

thanks all, just one more thing, when ive finished the story can i still explore and get all the mighty weapons and fight monsters like the super boses and stuff?

No, but there is a save point just before the final boss. As far as I remember though, if you beat the final boss and load your game back up. It will load back to the save point you last saved at. So then you can go and do all the optional stuff

Yes. None of the main games except a few remakes and X-2 have the new game+ option where you can keep all that you have (levels, items, job classes, etc) in a new game.

Thanks :lew: It's been a while since I've played it that I forgot the rest of them.

Isn't there a point of no return? Or is the last save point just before that? It's been a while, so I forget.

Haha, yeah, it's been a while for me too, but these actually stuck with me. I almost forgot Rikku's though.

There is a point of no return, but you can't save beyond that. And you can always go back to the airship.
