Just levels...

beating the optional bosses (king bomb, earth tyrant, etc...). For instance, i was bout level 30 when i defeated those first two. How bout ya?

I was around 40 or so with my main characters when I beat the bomb king, and about that same level when I took on the Earth Tyrant. I didn't find out about him until late so it was a piece of cake facing off against him.

I think I tried to beat the King Bomb at lvl 30 but it required a really really good quickening chain at the end. I'm not any good at them, so I didn't beat them until I was at a much much higher level.

For the Bomb King I was in the early 20's.... I got really lucky with 3 quickening chains. Party's of 2.

I beat King Bomb at level 40. i beat king bomb at lv 50 cause i couldn't be bothered to fight him early on in the game

can't remember what lv i was when i fought earth tyrant

I was around 45-50 when I defeated the Bomb King, that may have been because I messed up my party's development somewhat but until that point he always seemed to give more trouble than what it was worth. I went to do the optional stuff from then on really, can't comment on the Earth Tyrant though 'cos I don't remember fighting him, unless he was called something different in the Japanese version.
