I have had this thought about the characters created in Final Fantasy games, and I started thinking about Japans view on Americans. Since obviously these games like many others are produced in Japan, and Americans are a great consumer to these, I thought about a few connections in the games. I noticed that a few people in the games who are the "misfits" tend to have blonde or lighter hair, again, not everyone, but a few applications can be made. I laughed at this idea, thinking, wow, I wonder if the Japanese did that on purpose to show their feelings toward other races. These are the examples that I thought of; Cloud, who can be called a "puppet." He has mental and emotional instability, and blonde hair. Zidane is basically an alien, a genome, an empty vessel. He has a tail, clearly a misfit from everyone else on the planet. He has blonde hair. Rikku from Final Fantasy X and all of the Al Bhed really, are the hated race in the game, and they are all blonde. It could just be mere coincidence, but I thought it was an interesting thing to think about... 0.o Feel free to tear me apart for this ridiculous observation, I can take it. =p

i think the main reason is because girls tend to fall for blonde haired guys and boys tend to fall for blonde haired girls...

blonde = sexy

I don't really think that's how they veiw the West. I have noticed in anime's too that the main hero/heroine characters have mostly blond or white hair and the females who look more western always have huge breasts, I get the feeling that the Japanese WANT to be this way as all their hero's/heroines are very western. That's just my take on it.

I just think thats the artists/charcater designers wanting the female characters to be 'hawt'.

Same things happen with the male characters because they are usually Bishonens who are extreamly fit.

Just because a group of artists/designers think like that dosent mean everyone in japan thinks like that.

Yes, I know that. The title is meant to be an exaggeration. I just made a few observations and thought to draw attention to them. 0.o Like I said, there could be no connection whatsoever. It just made me laugh when I thought of it.

.....xD I'm female and have never once fallen for or even had a crush on a guy who was even remotely blond. I like dark hair thank you. Keep generalizations to yourself.

As to the topic, I've never really noticed that til you pointed it out xD But I don't think that it's because of how they feel towards other races, I think they tend to do it, cause blonds are obviously not as plentiful in Japan as they are in other parts of the world. It's different and somewhat exotic to them.
