I've been having this problem for a while: I get attacked by huge amounts of enemies, and I only have 2 character (me and my summon). I thought it was bad luck at first, but then it kept on happening over and over again, so I took a screen shot...

Yeah, is this normal or what? Someone please shed light on the matter.
 
Yes, that is typical. The trick is SPD. If your SPD is high enough, you will get more turns. Also, the Pyrolisk only have 100 HP. You should be able to kill them in one hit. It is a pretty crazy area. Also, I suggest teaming.

You need to use magic against Red Flan.
 
By the way, I deleted your battle. I noticed your summon got clobbered by explode. Beware of that and gaze.
 
Lol, alright thanks. Yeah, I was in the battle and said, screw it, I'll do this another time. Thanks for deleting it for me.
 
Sheeeat! That's alot of enmies! I just quit the RPG.
 
just have above I think 90 SPD and you'll get a turn just before EACH pyrolisk, then, you can kill them, without them attacking you, and get spare turns for defeating the other enemies.

NOTE: if you you get too much turns and your pet does't, it'll lose obedience.
 
Everyone will end up having battles like that.

And like what was said earlier, speed is the key, and it is best to kill the pyrolisk's first, gaze WILL KILL YOU IN 1 HIT.
 
The game starts out pretty easy though. If you buy stuff at the Midgar shops first proceed to Cyril and then go to Southern Cyril Beach.
 
If your speed is high enough you will get a hit for you and your summons between each pyrolisk ^_^
 
Okay, I've decided to ask for someone to kindly rush me through Roda Volcano, as it clear that I cannot do it myself, and am dying to continue on. Any takers?
