I heard someone said that ff9 & the other ps1 titles can be played on ps3... is it true? i owned a ps3 bt cant find any ff title in the ps online store...

i want to play it again so much!!!! as my ps one are spoiled.

Umm... Sony doesn't sell any old PSone games on their Playstation Network store. Yes you can play PSone games on any PS3. You'll just have to purchase old FF games through an online retailer.

They do sell them, actually.

Titles like Driver are on there. The original Metal Gear Solid is currently on sale in Japan, hasn't been released anywhere else as of yet.

They are under "PSone Classics"

There are no FF games on there though. The PS3 will play PS1 games though, just issues with PS2 games.

ya i saw the psone classic section bt none of them is of my interest. is it possible that it might come out someday?

Yes they do, they have crash bandicoot and other ps1 games actually.
At the thread starter. Yes u can play the old FF games on your ps3 but im afraid your gunna have to buy them as their not available for download on the psn store.

Well, I don't have a PS3, but I do have FFVII and FFIX on my computer as ROMs (Read Only Memory file) that read from my emulators. It's my understanding the PS3 is enough like a computer to run emulators and ROMs, kind of like the XBox

Yes I actually do believe you can do that.
PS3 is pretty cool :)

As of right now, VII is the only FF game available in the PSone section of the PS store. If there is a demand for other FF games, I'm sure there will be more selection available in the future.

I heard that too, PS3 being able to play PS1 games. You can also play them through your PSP provided you have a custom firmware that can play eboots(converted ps1 games for the psp).
And you can play them aswell in your PC using an emulator which is available all over the net.

Here's what you do:
Buy the original game, put the gamedisc in the playstation 3, play.

I thought it was common knowledge. Offcourse you could also download some games from the store, but if you already own the games, theres always the old fashioned way.

I'm looking foward to both FFVIII and FFIX being on PSN and thus "legally" available for the PSP. We all know they are coming in that upcoming glut of PSOne classic releases coming to the PSN. Hopefully Chrono Cross is on that list as well.

The only problem with this is that I'm going to have to splurge on a massive memory stick for the system.

And yes, every current PS3 model should play PSOne games. It is PS2 games that get confusing (60G yes, 80G some, everything else no... I think).
