IMPORTANT NEWBIE QUESTION!!?!

Ok so when you are finished creating your character you have to choose one of the four disciplines. If i were to choose the discipline of hand would that affect the amount of damage i deal if playing as a marauder or archer or is that what i start off as? cuz i know race doesnt have any thing to do with it, but does your discipline affect it? :ohshit:
 
Race does effect how much damage you do for example if you are a Lalafell you are more powerful at magic where if you are a Roegadyn who is more powerful at attcking.... each race has their strengths and weaknesses.

but i dont know the rest sorry.
 
I've read in alot of forums and blogs that whatever you want to be wont effect what job class you are. But my previous question that i asked has still not been answered!!
 
I haven't grinded my teeth into the Beta yet, but from what I would think since your character upgrades are based on rank, the STR etc you get on other classes wouldn't cross over I would think, but I wouldn't know for sure. http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/ would probably know more, they are the big MMO place for XI and XIV.
 
im pritty sure if you go to another class you probly go back to square one like going changing class to a level one again. but really you jsut change weapond
 
From what I understand, each race is neutral.
No race will improve your magic dmg, for example.

As for a starting class, I believe this is implemented to give you beginning gear, and that is all.

As for Physical levels (str, dex ect), I think that will remain if you change classes but there will be limits on how many physical level points you receive.

I do know, for fact - from watching beta videos - that there is a soft cap at 40 points (in one line - str for example) and a that time, it takes 2 points to up str by one.

I do believe there is class levels - when you switch classes (switch weapons) and that you level these up by using that class.

This is all speculation, however, from what I have read/seen.
