Okay...so, in theory, if I wanted to buy a URL....a whatever.com name, no free geocities gay shit, what would be the appropriate steps to doing so. Also, what else would be required for me to eventually host a totally baller ass site?

Cool, thanks.

I daresay that there would be some sort of local company or business that could help you get your own domain started. It's just a matter of finding them. For selling a product that is in such high demand, these company's sure do hide themselves well. Just look them up in your local directory.
Other than that, I wouldn't have a clue.

First you would checkout the services, a shared host or designated server. When you are starting out, it is best to start off with a shared host, meaning you buy space on a server verses having a server of your own. As for finding a domain name, pick one out and check to make sure it has not been used. Sometimes, you can get deals where your host will provide a free service to obtain a domain name. I would check out several available services and see what deals you can get. Also, discuss this with people who already have sites. To find out what service is more reliable. Some services can have a good price. But are not very reliable.

Also, if you are planning to have a forum, the service needs to support SQL. Some cheapy services do not support SQL. Also, there are things like Ioncube. For example, several services do not support IonCube. Some mods or hacks, on forums like VB and IPB require IonCube.

You can find services by using Google of course. There are a ton of them. Lets see what would be a good search key. I will ceck and get back to you. I use Yahoo Small Business. But there are better deals than them.

On second thought, I would discuss it with others, who have paid services.

BALLIN.

Did it.

researched on various hosting-based forums on the net, and found a reliable site that has a blog option that gives you a gig (which is more than enough to start up with) of space, or whatever, for only about 6 a month. And now I play the 'tweak shit around' game.

6 dollars a months, cool. A gig is more than enough for a blog.
