I have an issue that is really bugging me. I am on disc 2 and can get to the part where you go back to Balamb. I go through and do what I'm supposed to do and make it all the way to where the garden starts to drift in the ocean. A few seconds into that scene, the game freezes.:gonk:

At first I thought it was the disc, so I checked it, but it was clean.

I have tried everything I could think of, but nothing works, so I figured I'd come here with my problem.

Thanks for any help.

clean ur lens with some special lense cleaning formula, its helped me in the past

I'd say that if it was an issue with the lens, other games wouldn't be working as well...but who can really understand the workings of a PS2? :wacky:

At any rate, this sounds like a problem with your disk...regardless of how clean you may think it is. Try actually cleaning it, as opposed to just taking a look at it, you would be surprised what tiny smudges can cause catastrophic failures. If cleaning it doesn't work...your game just might be dead. I hate to say it, but it happens sometimes.

well maxelle (spelling?) makes a formula that clans bot, lens's and discs, and in discs, it will fill in minor scratches, but in major scratches ur screwed, its in a blue aperlike case, look for it in some places, i dont remember where i got it but i know it worked well for me

Is it possible you're playing this game on a PS1? I know I had a very very minor scratch on my first disc of FFVIII and the game would freeze right after the Field Exam. When I upgraded to a PS2, the faster laser allowed it to pass by the minor scratch and I've never had a problem since.

If by chance you are using a PS2, maybe try a PS3 or PS1 (if you have one of them that is). Maybe it needs a slow laser or a faster one for whatever odd reason. I wish I understood optics better. -__- Hopefully something will work, best of luck!

I know this sounds stupid... But try moving your PS2/X to a different angle or something. If it's standing up, tilt it, etc... Sometimes this causes the--actually, yeah, is it that your disk stops rotating? Because if so, that implies that it's not being read. If your disc is indeed fine, then it's a problem with the lens. In such a case, tilting it or something has worked for me in the past.

we got something in common

This works for me too. I sometimes tap the top or flip it completely over and sit it up-side-down. For some odd reason it works. Also the disk/lens cleaner is worth trying too.

To answer some questions now:

I am using the PSX and did try to use the PS2, but it didn't even make it that far, and I have no PS3 to try.

The disc is still rotating and the music is still playing, but the game is not progressing, no matter how long I wait.

I'll try tilting it and see what it does for me.
