How to beat sephiroth

Well for one, I highly advise setting guard and counterattack, his melee is fairly predictable and with counterattack it gives you plenty of combo opportunity
Also having a level 3-4 high jump and aerial dodge will help with his Sin Harvest Angel, it's a pain to reach him otherwise.
Also, I wouldn't bother with any magic but Cure/Cura/Curaga since Sephy is fairly resistant to it I believe and get MP haste/hastera/hastega, either in ability or from a weapon. and make sure you have hi potions and elixers just in case you get hit by a combo.
Speaking of combos... Stuff like second chance and others for keeping you at 1HP will be a lifesaver.
For strategy, try to stay on the ground as much as possible in case he does that reaction command charge, use high jump and aerial dodge to hit Sephy when he does SHA, run away when he summons fire pillars (don't stop, they can drag you in) and keep in the air as much as possible during meteor
