How does Final Fantasy compare to other MMORPGs

I'm just wondering as I am thinking of getting this when it does come out, however I've not really known much about the FF mmorpg and wondering how it compares and if so would FF14 be worth getting based on how 11 was. The only mmorpg's i've played are RuneScape (still play now) and briefly WoW and Guild Wars, just wondering if FF keeps up with these and how much of a challenge it is as an mmorpg

I loved FF11. The story was epic and was always "in tune" with all the other ones. Lifestreams, evil government-like figures, etc. FF11 also had the traditional enemies like Behemoths, omega/ultima weapons. You'd see similar NPC names like Cid and Gilgamesh, which I am pretty sure will be reoccuring.

All the oldschool jobs were also there, white mages, black mages, paladins, etc. However I know that XIV wont be keeping those, they have other classes that you can find on another thread here.

Alot of sidequest that were all somewhat relevant to FF, like killing weapons for items and such and I think all this will be in XIV as well, however I know that they are probably trying to change it up abit.

FF11 was really challenging, maybe abit too challenging. In its early life (first 7 years?) the game was really team based, as in you couldn't solo anything, not even exp. So everything required coordeinated teamwork and patience. For those that were willing to put up with it were able to benefit from the games real potential. The bosses were hard to beat and there were alot of puzzles through out the game. I found it really enjoyable.

I think the main complaint people may have with FF11 is that it was too time consuming, as in you couldn't do anything on you own and you were always left to try and find a party or guilds to do anything other than do basic quests. And the story-line always required you to be in a party, maybe with a few exceptions.

Other than those minorities, FF11 was a great game and FF14 should be just as, or if even better.

i think ffxi was rly good i played for almost 3 years before someone stole my pc and i lost all my account info but i thin ff blows all other mmos out tha water but thats just me

the PVP in 11( I only played briefly, was too young at that point and had to play on my sisters mule account) blew from what I heard, however I feel that 14 will be on par if not better than WoW or any other MMO on the market. The only game I have as much if not more excitement for right now would be SW:TOR.

You don't play FFXI for PvP imho.

Think you have to realize that FFXI is (was) not a mainstream MMORPG like WoW. Nothing comes easy or fast and like said above you need team work to get anything done, which i liked very much btw.
