How do you raise Chocobos??

Can anyone tell me how to raise chocobos?? I'm trying to raise their levels right now, but when i get to the choco-preserves, it says i need sylkis greens, but i dont have any and clasko wont give me any...

I think you have to have a certain amount of fights before he will actually hand them over. Or let a certain amount of time lapse before you try getting more off him? Have you checked the nutitive greens? You can choose what you want him to give you........
