The biggest gaming event this year in Japan, Tokyo Game Show 2008, is about to kick off. This week's Famitsu issue listed Square Enix as one of the companies that has no surprise announcements at the event this year (along with six other game companies), but as always, rumors are spreading like wildfire in the internet.
The biggest rumor this year is all about the Square Enix and Microsoft love. The EGM crew claims they saw Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of the famed Final Fantasy franchise who later created Mistwalker, a game company with the financial backing of Microsoft, hanging out with both Square Enix legends Yoshitaka Amano and Nobuo Uematsu. The three were reading papers right next to the Microsoft and Square Enix booths (which are right next to each other).
This little reunion sparked the interest of the EGM crew that immediately jumped to conclusion that something is about to happen, and it smells good. What do you think? An entire game created by Mistwalker and published by Square Enix? A co-developed game? Will Hironobu Sakaguchi make a comeback and return to Square Enix?
