Highwind Family

Now we all now that the Final Fantasy series has many common themes i.e. reused monsters similar names, and spells etc. Even more recently we learned of a connection between FF2 and FF4 that being Kain and Richard being related; Dragoons with the last name Highwind. SO what about Cid Highwind who clearly is a dragoon being a member of that family ?

I think for hte most part, the re-used names are just a tip of the hat to the older games, there's no reason why they couldn't be related somehow, but unless it's stated somewhere official, (and Im far to lazy to explore this further, that and I don't really care if I'm honest)then i'd with the old hat tippage myself

I don't think they are meant to be related, SE just decided that Highwind was a fitting surname for dragoons. I think it was just a tip of the hat to the first Dragoon, and they started a sort of tradition with the name Highwind with characters that love to leap high into the air.

King Alexander Highwind Tycoon, from FFV, also has Highwind in his name, and I think Kimahri has a spear called the Highwind (therefore while Kimahri is not called Highwind himself, they still reference it).

Yes but in the newest remake of IV, Kain states that his dad's name was Richard and he died fighting an empire. I know the Highwind name is a tribute SE has been doing but for those who like to think of some connectors between games and now Se basically telling us the the young Kain in II and the older one in IV are the same
