Help with menu

I bought FF12 last night and started playing I'm at the giza plains when I realised the minimap and menu wont open there doesnt seem to be a problem with the buttons they work perfectly on any other game so why would they act up just on this the game is also brand new so there shouldnt be a problem has anyone any idea's

That'd odd. Try restarting, maybe? I really can't think of anything else as to why it wouldn't open. Menu is "triangle", right? And minimap is "select"? It should work.

hmmm thats weird. Is it now just happening?

Yeah I've tried resetting it and palying again but still nothin the triangle button works for the log history when people talk but wont open the menu my last options are to either return the game or try it on a firends ps2 and see how it goes
