Has any anyone noticed something?

Possibly because the game expanded so much with FFXII they took a more adult approach towards the realtionships involved.

As people have previously said there's enough to suggest of possible relationships between Fran and Balthier, Vaan and Penelo. Both of the later are also quite young. Whereas Fran and Balthier seemed to have been companions for a number of years and it's obvious both care a great deal about each other.

It is nice to make such a change from previous final fantasies, but as like books, the best are when matters of the heart are involved.

Not necessarily a romance was needed but some kind of emotional events. A romance would have made the story more interesting. For an emotional event, thought everyone lost something, you really didn't know who that was-other than names-so I couldn't emotionally attach. Maybe if someone died in the playable cast, it would have been a lot more interesting...like Basch, if someone died, it could have made a much more epic plot because of the lacking romance.

For the record, Vaan is the most important character because he brings them all together.

Vaan and ashe? They are like the worst couple ever. Why vaan and ashe?

The romance in this game is obviously Vaan x Penelo, even though they never get together you can tell square enix put that in there as something interesting the player might follow.

Edit: And im not saying that just because i like penelo *looks at signature and avatar*

Ashe's romance, if any, was with Vossler and Rasler. And Vaan and Penelo were not really in love- Penelo was more of a big sister to Vaan (beginning scene where Vaan pickpockets an Imperial). I'd think that in a sequel, Penelo and Fran would be fighting over Balthier. Remember, when Penelo gives Balthier back his 'kerchief he says 'I'll put it close to my heart' or some gentlemanly thing.
