What did you think of the big screen Adaptation for the longest book in the HP series?

i was dissapointed in how much they actually missed out of the book, the irony, the longest book is the shortest film. and the scenes in the department of Mysteries were NOTHING like i imagined they would be.

On a positive note, the actress who played Umbridge was PERFECT - she really captured the evil of Umbridge.

Yeah, they basically cut out huge chunks of the good stuff about the book, which I found incredibly disappointing. Also, the fact that Cho betrayed the DA instead of that other girl kinda ticked me off as well. Well, that's a minor discrepancy, but still....

Anyways, as for the action itself, I loved it. It's not as good as the Goblet of Fire movie but definitely the actors are improving.

EDIT: Actually, I thought Umbridge would be a bit...stouter (well, you can't have 'em all), she did a good job, but it was lacking in my opinion.

i found that the order of the phoenix was far better than the Goblet of fire, for one Harry didn't have to carry a lot of the film by himself, and we got to see Rupert Grint and Emma Watson more :)

I HATED the fact that Cho betrayed the DA, its was senseless and ruins the relationship between them - but it makes Cho look like the bad guy when she's not.

And Bellatrix Lestrange Using Avada Kedevra on Sirius dosgruntled me slightly, since im sure that in the original book she used Stupefy and he fell into the Veil.

Helena Boham Carter was a wonderful Bellaztrix and i can't wait to see her in the next 2 potter films ^_^

Oh yeah, on the topic of Bellatrix, I thought she was great, to be honest. (I can see why Riku likes her :P)...She acts and plays the part well; the epitome of evil.

Though yeah, she didn't really 'Avada Kedavra'-ed him in the book, yet another 'slight' change the movie made. But it still doesn't change Sirius dying so the impact isn't really all that different. *shrugs*

I thought the death scene happened way too fast. in the book i imagined a Duel tot he death between them, not Bellatrix suddenly appearing and BAM, he's gone.

I got a very Xmen Vibe from the Dumbledore VS Voldemort wand battle, but in a good way. Although i was dissapointed that

A) it wasn't longer.
B) Fawkes didn't appear and eat the Avada Kedavra spell. that would have RAWKED.

I Also got a very Nazi-Regime Vibe from the way Fudge and the ministry was being portrayed, especially with that Hudge poster of Fudge shown in the Ministry of Magic.

Yeah totally. I agree with that Nazi bit as well, but then again, I've always viewed Harry Potter in relation to WWII and all that racial business. :monster:

Either way, it was pretty dark, literally and plot-wise. Needless to say, they should've made a few improvements, including the Fawkes deal (which I thought they omitted simply because they couldn't be bothered with animating something like that :P), as well as the Department of Mysteries Room.

I was disappointed in the lack of detail in the end. The whole brain wrapping Ron around in its tentacles would've been both exciting and appealing to the audience, I think. But then again, it's the animation deal probably.

I sadly havent seen this one yet and Ive been told the death of Sirus was not as good or as emotional as the book portrayed it and that was the art I was looking forward to the most.

They indeed missed out huge chunks, though I belive they did that with the previous film too... so was not surprised....at least Bellatrix and Umbridge were spotless in it. At least it was a bit more fluid then the previous film; I liked Goblet, but there was some many huge holes, and unexplained stuff that is was kind of jumpy from bit to bit....this one at least did not do that story wise...

Ministry scenes where a bit downfall, I agree; I too did not imagined they way they donne it in the film, actually I was a bit confused, for I remembered the whole thing rather differently...

...and death of Sirius was for me wth, for my memory was telling me differently, I did not liked what was donne in the film...

and not much Snape at all...why ?, they gave us a tiny little flashback and very few scenes with Snape, and it is dumb for Snape is crucial for the whole story....

I just recently finished the last book and I really wanna see what they will do with the last two films....

for the most part, i think this movie was the most true to the book out of all of the movies made so far. sirius' death wasn't near as devestating as it was in the book, but for the most part.. i think they did a pretty good job with it.

I think the only two films that were the only ones true to books were first two films....they are indentical to books....thought prbably due to the fact the first two books are short and there was probably no need to cut anything out.
