Guns in FFXII

Yeah, it is pretty strong when you first get it (damage around 3500) but other weapons will outclass it later on. Sagittarius is one of them.

As for the guns, what is the best gun? Shouldn't that be a pretty strong gun?

From what i've heard, the Arcturus is really good, and it's actually possible to get early on in the game. I'm actually working on getting it right now, but it's a pain in the ass to get though, you need:

2 Yensa Fins (rare steals from Urutans)
2 Wyvern Wings (steal from Wyvern Lord, also drop from Aeronite and steal from Aeros)
1 Salamand Halycon (drop or steal from Salamand OR complete the July sidequest)

Na, i never used them, swords do so much more damage but guns would be a nice change from just hack and slashing through the game like usual

I actually used all guns against the Behemoth King. He was better to attack from a range rather than try to get him head on.

It really wasn’t my weapon of choice as opposed to a bow or spear, but I usually had Balthier equipped with a gun from time to time. Anyway, with the right gambits set and ammo equipped (as already stated) he did a decent amount of damage, in my opinion.

The guns seemed like a novelty to me... they were fun when I first got Balthier and the guns attack power was like 5, and they just looked so damn cool with Balthier wielding them, but later on in the game the guns just seemed really weak, so I switched Balthier to a bowman and made him my leader/tank. Seems weird having the tank as a bowman, but it's useful because he can always get a pre emptive strike on the enemy with a bow, and the damage isn't bad either.
