Gta! Gta! Gta!

III was San Andreas, no? :P

Then yeah, I agree, the story of SA was just awesome. It was easy to understand and the side missions were kinda cool and challenging, I mean, at least a bit better than the first one. Kinda more realistic, in my opinion.

I still need to get Vice City though. =S
 
I liked Vice City mainly because if you shot off someone's head through the windshield and got into the car fast enough the person would stand back up without a head.
 
GTA3

It was a sleeper hit and blew so many expectations. It was totally innovative. The gameplay was new and the open city was amazing when on your first drive through. The story was good for an action game. The character was likeable even though he was a criminal. And the soundtrack was probably one of the best licensed soundtracks in a long time.

While the other games have improved the game, GTA3 laid the foundation and still holds the magic of the series.
 
You're not alone in that assessment, San Andreas quickly lost its appeal with the map. Impressive size but it just wasn't very well done. The characters weren't that bad but nothing compared to those in Vice City which imo is the best GTA so far.
 
I absolutely love San Andreas! Definitely my favorite of the series. I don't think I could ever get tired of playing that. I don't always do the missions though, I like driving around and causing as much chaos as I can! I used to love using the silly cheats where you can make cars fly and everything. Parachuting off of high buildings is the best!

I wasn't too fond of Vice City, I got bored of it very quickly. 3 was pretty good though, I remember playing that an awful lot a few years ago now.

I have played the original games for the Playstation 1. The first game was awesome but obviously the graphics weren't that great. They are all fun and unique to play but San Andreas will always be my favorite I think. :)
 
They are all pretty good, San Andreas is sooooo big...
But my fave has to be Vice City, the cool Miami Vice/Scarface setting, and uber sweet 80's music just really did it for me:P
 
preffered vice city to san andreas by far. only 2 i've played. wish the next one would come out on ps2 insted of 3 :(
 
I only finished San Andreas and that was an awesome game. I loved them gang fights!

Vice City was okay too, more simpler than San Andreas.
 
I liked SA. theres loadz to do and loads of planes/helicopters to fly. My personal favourites is the Jumbo jet plane and small bird helicopter that can land in water and is equiped with a minigun. Sure the massive jumbo jet air bus is a bitch to take off and fly. Its great flying it and having it bomb into rival gangs is kinda satisfyng. then of course there is the ultimate hydra plane. so awesome
 
I'd imagine you all being big GTA fans you've heard about the game being delayed til Apr 2008 at least? At least the consoles may be cheaper by then.

Ugh, I can't stand GTA *dodges* Give me Zelda, Final Fantasy, Xenosaga, Fire Emblem, Vagrant Story, Chrono Cross, etc. any day of the week. What I can't stand about this series is that it has a horrible storyline and the gameplay is just kill and blow stuff up. *still dodges bullets and knives thrown her way*
 
I don't agree with all that you've said but I won't deny that the series has gotten weaker since Vice City and there is a lot of other games franchises I'll rate higher than it.
