Hello everyone. My name is Lagaidh and I've been a rabid fan of the Final Fantasy series since the release of Final Fantasy Tactics. I am old enough that I was around to play FF back on the NES, but I never had a copy. Back then I was a big Dragon Warrior nut. But once I played Tactics... well... you all know how the FF addiction goes.
I've played (correct japanese numbering) I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, IX, X, and am now playing XII; and as mentioned I started with FFT. I just got a copy of VIII yesterday. I did not play XI. My online gaming was taken up by EverQuest from 1999 to 2006. My handle comes from my character there. I've used it as my online alter-ego. That's my character popping in and out of a treasure chest in my avatar.
I have been a member for a few months now but have never posted. I was about to make a comment in a thread and saw the suggestion message to introduce myself in this forum, so I thought that I would do just that.
My favorite entries in the series (in descending order) are: Final Fantasy Tactics, VI, IV, and IX. By the time I've finished with XII I am confident that will earn its spot in my favorites rankings.
My least favorite entries in the series are Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and X. I know the notion of X being on a "least favorites" list is unpopular, but keep in mind I still think it's a fine game. It is just one of the only FF titles that didn't grab me enough to make me want to complete the game. Personal taste and all... But FFTA... I hate that game. Probably because of how much I loved FFT. FFTA was not fit to bear the name of its predecessor in terms of story and depth. Hell, had the game not have been called "Final Fantasy Tactics Advance" I might have given it a chance, but since I was expecting something in the vein of its namesake... I was thoroughly disappointed.
My biggest current FF wish is that the port to PSP of Tactics is completed and then released in the US quickly. In fact, I would drool at that...
