Greenpeace is asking for a lawsuit.

Greenpeace are just trying to save the world.. what's wrong with that? It's YOU they are trying to save in the long run, that deserves a little credit. I haven't watched the video, but when you are the little guy trying to be heard in a world that won't listen you can't blame them for resorting to drastic measures always =/

Nothing's wrong with saving the world, but there are alot bigger issues out there. And as for saving ME? I could care less if my consoles have "toxic chemicals" in them, practically everything does. As for saving ME, well, people live and die, it's the way things go. If my diabolical console poisons me and I die a few years earlier, no biggie. I'd rather not get old and decrepit anyway.

And Greenpeace is FAR from being "the little guy", they're a very large and well known (but not well respected) organization. Their "drastic measures" are typically illegal and distort facts.

Very pissed of at the greenpeace forums, they are all bloody spamming in my thread!

http://forum.greenpeace.org/int/showthread.php?t=3821

that is the thread I was talking about, to get the info, but no-one will take it bloody seriously!

Meh, what'd you expect? Most people realize it's a stupid thing to campaign about and nobody is going to throw away their consoles, and the higher ups don't want to clarify things because it would shatter their argument. Greenpeace, PETA and other hippie-ish organizations rely heavily on distortion and absence of facts. Consoles aren't hurting the environment anymore than the computers Greenpeace is using to create crappy little vids on.

Yeah, I guess your right, but Iv'e found another Foundation, but they aren't behinf the environment, they are animal rights, but these guys keep the facts straight, partly because they don't involve themselves with the government and are completely Australian

Involvement with government = bad

I suppose an animal rights group is okay, so long as they're not all lunatics like PETA.

Still though....consoles have toxic chemicals in them? OH FUKKIN NOE! Yeah um, everything does. Shampoo, makeup, you name it. If anything, that stuff would be worse for you since it can seep through your pores and get inside you. I don't think consoles have the power to do that, and people don't eat them.

The video was over done, and poorly made, but at least it got to the point, spreading the message around, but I don't like how they did it. And yes, they can pick on another topic. But the electricity consumption of the PS3 is pretty bad though

Electricity consumption? I can think of normal household things used every day that consume alot more electricity than a PS3. Plus, things like fossil fuel consumption are a bigger issue. I would think using a ton of gasoline for billions of cars is a larger problem then just a few million people playing a PS3 every few days (seriously, the PS3 isn't even selling well, it's electricity consumption is inconsequential).

Besides, I bet that you or anyone else here, electricity-conscious or not, would play a PS3 like crazy if someone handed over a free one <.<

Well, what makes you think I won't play a PS3 like crazy:huh:? Don'y worry, I would, but compared to other conoles it has a great Electricty consumption. All I hope is that game makers and computers go green. just reduce energy consumption as much as possible. But yeah, I think they should pick on cars more.

Reminds me of a discussion I had with my science teacher. We have perfected Electric cars, it's just those idiots running the economy stopping us from using them. The Earth's desturction will be brought because of greed and money, typical.

Honestly, how much electricity a console (much less a poorly-selling console) produces doesn't matter that much.

Nobody's stopping people from using electric cars, it's not a conspiracy. The problem is people are morons and like their big SUVs. People complain about gas prices and such, but when asked about their vehicles, they admit they wouldn't get rid of them. They like having something big that can transport their family and carry all their groceries and other crap, plus being in a large vehicle in traffic gives the illusion of being safer.

As for earth's destruction...who knows what'll lead to it. IMO, before the destruction of it, people will keep using non-renewable resources like crazy and run and have no bloody idea what to do and everything will shut down.

Another problem with the who electric cars thing is, most people wouldn't get rid of it unless the government mandated it... And then retards would be trying to counteract it with the 'natural freedoms', saying they shouldn't have to trade their 5-10 year old gas-guzzling Hummer for a nice, ecologically-friendly car.

However, if a government mandate WOULD work, it'd likely be everyone going to dealerships to give them their vehicle with a voucher for the eco-friendly car. Then, the dealers can maybe send the cars to the government of something so they could scrap the old cars and use the metal for other things, recycling them.

That's about the only way I can see and a massive green vehicle revolution in this country.

OH, and by the way... It sucks that they aren't giving you the info behind the video... They're acting like a**es to you... And you're a member yourself, which just ain't right...

Yeah, I know, and thanks for backing me up on this. This is partly why 'm trying to seperate myself from them. Hence the change of signature. And I like your eco-greeny car idea.

I just don't know why they can't give it to me straight, they are the ones who created it, so give me some info behind it. Like satistics how video games pollute the compared to the rest of other machines

I don't get why people are like "omgz, what do they think we'll do? eatz them?! LOL!!!1" Um...it's not a hard concept: a lot of toxic chemicals are a byproduct of their production. And then when people put them in dumps (which, yes, people will inevitably do), the chemicals within the consoles themselves will sit there for thousands of years. They do pollute. We're just all rich people, so we won't have to deal with it. Are there appliances that pollute the environment more? Yes. I don't know why Greenpeace is going after video game consoles specifically. Probably because video games are popular, and it's easier to get the word out about them. It's easier to pick something popular and wave it in your face to get your attention.

What do you mean, 'they aren't giving you the info behind the video'? It's all on their site which I linked to earlier. In case you missed it:

Yep, and here is a blog about Nintendo's response:

http://weblog.greenpeace.org/makingwaves/archives/2007/12/nintendo_response.html#more

The comments are fairly enlightening, and yet, the comments posted by "Tom", who's apparently a higher up in Greenpeace, are dodgy and preach more about how they've turned Apple and Sony green than responding to the Nintendo situation. So don't feel alone Darkstar, you're not the only one they aren't answering.

My dad works for the the state, in the division of solid waste management, so he gets to find places that dump barrels illegally, visit landfills and make sure things are being taken care of properly, etc. Usually there are places to get rid of the more toxic stuff in ways that won't pollute. If they're left sitting in the ground in a normal landfill though, well...that's the state's problem and it's very likely illegal.

I really can't be bothered reading that, but he does sound stupid, trust me, VR, not not going with greenpeace any more, sure, I like what they do, but how they treated me, thats another story.

But I'm sure they had a good reason as to why they made this video this way, and have good statistics behind it, but they won't tell me, so good bye greenpeace, hello WWF, World Wildlife Foundation (or federation, can never remember)

Aye, it's obvious something is fishy when they won't even answer their own members' questions. WWF is way better anyway, my dad's in it and they're not a bunch of nutcases.

As for making the video that way...meh, it looks so childish and unprofessional, I don't know what they were thinking. It's certainly not something that would work in recruiting people very well. And it's lulz that they picked Kratos as Sony's mascot when Jak or Ratchet are the bigger ones.

Well, If Crash Bandicoot didn't sell out, that wouldv'e been funny.

But, at least they got the message out, that is probably the only good part about the video

Guys, please stay on topic instead of going on about peoples avatars or when you'll PM them info. This is a decision thread, please keep it on the subject.
