Need help with strategy for Barbariccia in the Tower of Zot in the DS version, because mine's obviously not working.

I've been using slow and silence with Rosa at the beginning, then casting Cura on the whole party and reviving dead teammates with her the rest of the battle. I have Kain constantly using jump. With Yang, I use focus twice and then attack. I have Cid keep hammering away when she's not protecting herself with the tornado. Cecil alternates between attacking and using Cura on the whole party.

I'm pretty sure I can't grind levels for Kain and Rosa before the fight, but I'm wondering if it would help with my other 3 teammates. Cecil is lv. 33, Yang is lv. 33, and Cid is lv. 29.

Surprising, considering how I never had a problem with Barbariccia no matter which version I played - PS, GBA.

To be honest, I'm not sure if those status effects even work at all, so I never bothered to use Rosa to disable bosses - especially since some of them has this pesky immunity to status effects.

Having said that, here's my so-called strategy:

I have two healers in the party. Rosa is the permanent one, whose job is only to ensure the party's never in critical condition. Cecil is the other healer, though he attacks Barbariccia when she isn't protected by the tornado.

Kain's only job is to jump and break the tornado barrier. However, considering the inconsistency of Barbariccia when it comes to the barrier, I always keep him in stand by. In other words, I actually keep him in the party, attacking like everyone else when the barrier isn't up, and only jumping when she starts using the tornado - exactly during the time she does so.

The other two - Yang and Cid - are my main attackers. I don't bother to use Yang's Focus attack because sometimes, I might just be unlucky and time it wrongly enough to have him hit the barrier. Cid is probably self-explanatory. Unless you intend to study her repeatedly, the only other thing you can do with him is hit, hit, hit.

... This pretty much saw me through all the versions of Final Fantasy IV. I don't recall what level I was at the time - from back then - but I do know that I wasn't very high-leveled. Most probably about your level, but slightly lower. When I came to the Tower of Zot then, all I did was rush through.

>.> Didn't stop for any treasure chests then... Thanks to some pesky ambushes.

Tried that my first few times. What would happen is Cecil would end up using Cura along with Rosa the whole time, and Yang, Cid, and Kain were constantly dieing from Barbariccia countering with Lightning.
