Help Gold Saucer: Materia Mistranslation?

I'm sorry if this belongs in the help section, I just wasn't entirely sure, since this may or may not deal with a mistranslation with the game.

So at the Gold Saucer, when you're racing the chocobo, I see the name "Counter" consistently pop up in the A and S division. However, it's sworn by most that the only place to receive "Counter" is in the Crater. I, up until recently, thought so too. I'd be able to figure it out if I could win the damn thing, but it's never under the right bet ticket, so I have yet to win the thing.

So can anyone confirm? Has anyone won the item yet? Is it actually "Counter", or "Counter Attack"?

As far as this goes, I'm not really certain...but I THINK that it's the materia that provides counterattack. I haven't won it myself, so I'm not certain...but I believe that it's the same. D:
 
I've won it, it takes an AGE to win though, it's like totally down to luck and I only wanted it to complete my materia list. It is defiantly a counter attack materia, but without firing up my save file, I cant remember what it counters exactly

curses to having several materias witht he words counter in them

I think its this one

'Counter' Attacks with paired command when damage is incurred

Just pair it with a yellow materia...i think thats the command materia? and you will counter attack with whatever you have equipped when hit

Ahaha! I'm sooo sorry! Hahaha, I really appreciate the effort! Really appreciate the help! Sorry about that..

But wow, wait, so it actually is "Counter"? 'Cause if it's the one that pairs with the Command then that is the one. I was wondering, because I attempted to get it as I'm replaying the game, but was absolutely stumped. Like you said, it seems to take forever. Every time I've come across it, I always tend to get one of the stupid items listed. It's just driven up my curiousity.

Everyone's always kind of sworn that "Final Dungeon" was the only place to receive it, and I'd always just kinda gone with that. But that's great news. Thanks a lot!

Oh, by the way - I checked up on this, and I'm guessing it was just some ill-thought abbreviation. The materia actually was a "Counter Attack" =_=, which you get for winning an abundance of S-Class races in the first place...

So to anyone aiming to get that materia: Don't bother. Took me forever, and I was massively disappointed with the results.

Isn't there Counter attack, Counter, and Magic counter

How many counter materias are there in a game? I laways thought 3. So if anyone can answer the question, thanks in advanced.
