Getting Logged Out

This is getting really ridiculous. I can't seem to find the problem and I'm not sure if it has something to do with the board or the user. I think I'll just submit a support ticket to the vBulletin team. I hope they will be able to sort this out for us.

Indeed, though not to sound offensive or anything, it must have something to do with the board, moreso than the 'User'. I visit a few other forums (vBulletin/phpBB/IPB/etc) and I have not had the trouble of being logged out frequently at any of them. I haven't got around to trying the solution posed on the other page yet (as this fazes me little.) but I'll copy the information and give it a whirl next time I get logged out.

Sorry this is affecting the forum, Darkblade; I've had times where I could not solve an issue with vBulletin before as well, which can be annoying to no end. I'd submit the support ticket if I were you; there may be a simple solution that is being over-looked. Can't hurt to try.

For anyone who hasn't seen Zero's advice, please read it, because it seems to have worked for me. I haven't been logged out since I cleared my cookies.

As a side note, what the feck is a cookie? I'm not a very technical person in the world of computers, all I know is how to use them :P

Nope its not the board , as i told Darkblade on msn its the users PC/browser not allowing cookies to be set that is why the board is unable to keep you logged in , the cookies are meant so you can be recognized alot faster rather then having to log in manually each time . After following the simple steps i put in the first page i assure you this will not happen again . The reason i know its not the VB board that is malfunctioning is because just about every forum i have ever been has this issue . I havent even had this problem once and thats because i made sure on my first log in to clear my cookies .
at TGS , a cookie is a little bit of information a site saves to your browser folder or pc that basically has your info from the site , thats why if you dont have it the site wont recognize you .

Yes its very important that you clear them and have cookies allowed if you dont have it set so that a site can leave cookies on your shit then it defeats the purpose .

Ok, I take back my earlier post, because it JUST happened right there. I did what you said, Zero, and yet it continues. It's not really that bad, but it's really irritating when you have to log in again. As I said before, when it happens to me, often I must reset my password for some strange reason.

Thanks for that infor, Zero ;)

since you have followed the steps have you logged off the site or do you just X out ?
It could be possible that you have your browser set to clear your info every time you close it thus why it still happens .

Face it whatever Db says there is a problem on this forum.
It may only effect particular users but it is there.

No thats not likely it would effect all . Like i said check if your cookies get cleared everytime you clear your browser . TGS could you tell me what browser your using also , and you didnt answer my question , which was have you logged out since then . See tethar if you give up and think its the board you will never pinpoint the problem if we keep on looking we will find it .

Zero understand this; there is only so much I can do, and I have already done it. I have done as you have said and I still get logged out.

I am not quiting I am merly allowing those with more knowledge in this area and those with the power to take action, to be able to work. Without my interferance which will get progressivly more irritating as time passes I assure you of that Zero.

like i said your browser could be set to clear your cookies everytime you close it that could be the reason why its happening . Like i said almost every board i have frequented in my years has had this issue and this method has solved it each time over the years , it hasnt happened to me once in all my time here , it used to happen on other boards but then i just follow the method and it stops . Also does anybody else use the computer that you use to access the internet ? It is possible that they may have cleared your info thus why the problem has reared itself again .

Zero I wonder if you understand what the problem is exactly.

This is not a case of people just going away and turning their computers off, then coming back the day after expecting to be logged in still

This problem is that people are logged out with out warning or notice, while they browse the forums.
If there computers did not store cookies they would have to log in at every page. This is different.

Everynow and then they go to another page and simple find they are no longer logged in.

What you keep saying makes me think you imagine people want to stay logged in over multiple days.
Anyone who knows anything about computers knows that you should always clear your cookies/cache and tempory internet files once you are finished online as they can cause problems if left on. Though this has nothing to do with the problem at hand.

I know exactly what is happening dont question my knowledge on the matter at hand i know what im saying and i know the problem at hand happens when members also try to post , in fact i expect it to happen most when they try to post , they type out there post hit submit and then are hit with the "log in screen" , am i corrent guys ?
With my method it not only stops this it also keeps you remembered , now you wont be logged in for days , but every time you come back the remember me function will actually work and you wont have to manually enter your info . Now what i was saying in my prior post is that it is possible that there cookies got cleared and they would have to follow the same process once again .

Zero I have followed your instructions perfectly and I still get logged out.
I get the not logged in screen when trying to post and when just changing screen.

So far I am finding plent of reason to question your knowledge.

I wont question you, Zero, because I have no knowledge of the technical side of computers. Sticking with this, I have to say that I have no idea what a browser is. I can use a computer excellently, but I know nothing of the technical side.
