Im sure there are people here who have friends or lovers whose parents act differently around you. They become more polite and try their best to embrass your friend or lover, which can be sometimes fun and everyone has a lark at your friends or lovers expence.

Now, I have some friends whose parents are beyond lovely towards me and cant do enough for me and are very nice. However, I have some who use to beat their children, mentally abuse them and force thoughts of suicide into their heads! After meeting these people, you cant believe them because they treat you with such kindness that you cant imagine them being horrible as they are described.

It upsets me when my friends tell me this because I feel as though Ive been lied to. Yes what they do and did in their home has nothing to do with me, yet my friend has been hurt and their parents have treated me better almost in front of them.

Has anyone else experinced this or have you yourself had to tell your friends the real truth?

Yes, I agree with Clyde here, it's either that or they see something in you that have not seen in their own child.
I can't really say much, but I think it's quite immoral to do that because for one, they lie about themselves, and they lie to you.
Those who pretend to be who are they are not are doomed to failure.
Private or no, it's going to leak out sooner or later so there's really no need to cover it up behind a facade.

This just proves my point that human hypocrecy is beyond belief, as well as lies and such detestable actions.

I can't say that happened to me, my parents always treat me kindly and I am the only one who acts like an "emotionless" son. They are great because the act exactly the same way in front of anyone and they are always themselves.

So I am lucky to have great parents like them
