First time playing FF 3

I started playing it today, and got to the part with the raft. Well banon(sp?) got killed by a octopus boss thing, i could tell i was close to killing it. oh well ill get it but this game kind of reminds of FF 4. Terra reminds me of Rydia. Well so far im getting in to it. any tips on kicking that octopus's butt??

FF3 for the SNES = FF6

Use Sabin's AuraBolt, Terra's Fire, and Banon's Health command. That oughta do it.
