Final Fantasy VII vs XIII

Shooting games seem to be more in style right now and so much RPGs. I really don't know if FFXIII will out sell VII. But Final Fantasy does have a huge reputation and wasn't the main character shown using a gun? So this game may actually do well considering it's on multi platform.

And we'll see how well it will sell considering that the main character is a girl, and she is dressed pretty modestly =P

Right now, my guess is that it will not out sel FFVII.

enix are planning to do the same idea for final fantasy 13,make it a series just like final fantasy 7,the 2 main characters are so similar and meant to be almost the same.

it probably wont, itll do the same as it did in japan sell alot its first weekbecuz of the hype then hit rock bottom. i say its gunna sell over at least 5 million worldwide

I don't think Final Fantasy XIII will sell anywhere near the level that FF VII sold years ago. Tastes in gaming have changed, and JRPGs are no longer the major genre that they were ten years ago. Add on the fact that many of the fans that FF VII attracted may have left the series due to their disappointment with recent games, a shift in the overall design with the series since FF X, or bitterness towards Square Enix for making XIII a mulitplat game that in their mind compromised the overall quality and potential of XIII.

It is too early to start judging how well XIII will sell. Thanks to it coming to both the PS3 and 360, Square Enix has a chance to reach a large audience with this game.

With what I have been hearing about XIII, I am not sure fans of the series will think that XIII is better than FFVII. Sure, it will destroy the game graphically, but story wise, I think FFVII will forever be out of reach. FFXIII should be an awesome game, but not as good as FFVII.

I would have to play FFXIII first hand to give a true opinion, though :hmm:

The newer games lack something, I dunno what though. I feel like they do though.

You're right. They lack something important. They lack Nobuo Uematsu.
Tell me I'm wrong.
Final Fantasy practically lost it's legs when Uematsu left. I've almost given up on the series myself. Music is just that important to me.

This game won't hold a candle to FFVII, in sales or any other aspect. There's no way it could.
