One day after the surprise announcement of Dragon Quest IX for the DS, Square Enix is all set to drop another bombshell. According reports out of Japan, the next issue of Jump Magazine will contain news of two new Final Fantasy Tactics games.

The PSP will be getting Final Fantasy Tactics: Shishi Sensou, an updated version of the original PlayStation classic. Square Enix is adding new jobs and some slick cell shaded movies, but aside from that, it's unclear what kind of improvements we can expect.

The second project is a bit more mysterious. Nothing is known about this game, except for its title: Final Fantasy Tactics A2 Fuuketsu no Guurimore. We don't even know its target platform. Jump is promising an update down the road.

Both projects fall under a series of projects that Square Enix refers to as "Ivalice Alliance," Ivalice being the name of the world in which both Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII take place. Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings, a DS offshoot of this year's PS2 blockbuster, also falls under this project.

We've yet to see the Jump report for ourselves, but with the annual Jump Festa comic/videogame show scheduled to kick off on Saturday in Tokyo, we're hoping to get a look at both new projects shortly. We'll be back later this week with whatever details we can dig up at the show.

this will prob sound noobish but wts the difference between tactics and normal?

OOO cant wait lol i always wanted to see why tactics is so great - and since my brothers getting a psp for xmas......[*^_^*] however i also think that if tactics sells well they may finally decide to either port 7, 8, and 9 To the psp (that they all deserve) or remake 7 for the ps3 (the only one that deserves that lol except maybe 9)

SE is working hard to milk more money.-_- But this news is good since SE staffs will be more experienced at CG scenes.

@ChocoKing: Tactics is the normal....
theres Tactics Advance for GBA and Tactics for PSX
EDIT: the source was never IGN>_<

Man this sux. I dont have a PSP! Nor the money anytime soon to buy it!
Is Final Fantasy Tatics A2 stand for Tatics andvance? That game was the worst. The story sucked, and the charcters were highly uninventive. Come on, talking lizzards!? Give me a break! Plz dont let this be part two to that acursed game!!

I'm seriously probably going to be getting a PSP because of the Tactics remake...

Boy, were they hoping for people like me or what? lol

I wouldn't really mind a remake or a sequel of FFT, and that'll probably drive me to buy a psp, else try to emulate it.

Now, for the FFTA sequel, I'm still quite unsure about it, as the last game didn't give me any good reason to like it more than the original tactics. In fact, it didn't innovate or did anything worthwhile at all, except set the classes for FFXII (whatever happened to the Nu Mou? Did they change to "Seeqs"?)

*the seeqs are completely new! the nu mou are like uber close to extinction or something....there are only like 12 in the entire game!*

but, yeah, I think I might buy a psp JUST for the new FFT! I LOVED that game, it comes up #2 on the list, with FFXII being #1! if they made abn advanced 2......I think I may just have to go every store that sells it......and destroy ALL the copies.... The game was ok, but it was DEFINITELY not their best. it disgraced the goof FFT name I think.

I hope these games come out for the PS2 or PS3. I don't like using handheld consoles, and would really like to get my hands on more Final Fantasy for my collection.

Can't companies port PSone RPGs I haven't played yet? Valkyrie Profile, Final Fantasy Tactics, Tales of Eternia... all great games, but I already own the PSone versions. I wish Square Enix would pay more attention to the other series. I'd love Seiken Densetsu II&III remakes bundled together. Or a Front Mission collection.

Anyway, I hope the new Final Fantasy Tactics game is more in the style of the original. Advance was fun, but I rather play something with a more serious story.

The article mentions two projects. The first is a enhanched Final Fantasy Tactics, it will be titled Final Fantasy Tactics: Shishi Sensou. The second project is Final Fantasy Tactics A2, which will be a new game.

Everyone be sure to look on youtube.com,there are FFT:The Lion War for PSP trailers up,and it looks frakkin awesome!(shakes off goosebumps)
