My friend said his Dad has a copy of this;

And he is going to dig it out and give it to me. I'm a beginner on guitar but i'd love to be able to play it.

Here is an example of how the notes are arranged in the book;

I'll be getting lessons, but do you think (with alot of practise) it's possible to play something like that. I mean, Nobuo Uematsu is a musical genius and his scores are second to none.

Has anyone used the book?

I used the search function and no one has even mentioned this book before!

Yes, my husband has been playing guitar for 19 years now. He knows how to play Aerith's Theme, Tifa's Theme, The original FFVII Theme and he can also play To Zanarkand on his guitar. It's completely possible. Just because somebody's a musical genius, doesn't mean you can't learn how to play their pieces. Examples: Beethoven, Debussy, Chopin, etc...People replay their pieces all the time and they were WAY better musicians than Nobuo, sorry to say.

That's pretty cool. Did he teach himself or was he taught?

I'm definately thinking lessons will help me. But my aim is to play that kind of FF music

He's all self-taught and he's pretty damned amazing. He can listen to a song and immediately pick up his guitar and just start playing it. It's wild. He can play some really fast riffs by like Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, etc....

With lessons it shouldn't be too difficult to play something like that at all. The music in the link you provided seems like fairly basic stuff. Just because Uematsu is a musical genius, it doesn't mean his songs are impossible to play. Like Mandi said, tons of people can play songs by Beethoven, Mozart ect.

In my opinion it is more about writing music as opposed to playing it, anyone can learn to play a song if they practice enough. But writing a song that sounds good is quite differant. In other words; you shouldn't worry about learning FF songs. :monster:
