Final Fantasy gamplay

I have never played a final fantasy game before. But how is the gameplay, my friend says it is like pokemon. If that is so im do not think i am going to buy Final Fantasy XIV.

In a sense, I suppose your friend only grasped one part of the game play, that is, the battle system. Pokemon is characterised by it's classic turn based battles, where you select specific attacks to unleash on your adversary.

Similarly, most Final Fantasies at the moment also hold this very same aspect. However, this does not apply to all the Final Fantasy instalments. Depending on which series you are referring to, the game play is different. For instance, XII, Tactics.

And anyway. XIV, according to what I seen so far, appears to be a sequel to XI, the online Final Fantasy series. From what I know too, the game play is nothing like Pokemon's turn based. Instead, it's more like World of Warcraft, or most other MMORPGs out on the net right now- in my words, live-action, I'm not so sure how I'm suppose to put this in more accurate words though, apologies.

Do you know if there exists a game for PS3, which has a battle system kinda like Zelda or Fable..? If you get me, im not that good at English :b
 
There are no Final Fantasy games currently available for the PS3 yet, within the next year however, the PS3 will be seeing Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII Versus (hopefully) and Final Fantasy XIV released.

Also, someone may want to move this thread. :wacky:
