Are there any notable Final Fantasy conventions in North America? I tried searching but no luck. I live in California, also. Thanks.

Not their own, but I believe they typically hit the big ones. E3, Comicon, etc....
I don't live in an area with lots of traffic of that sort, nor do I follow conventions quite so closely, but I doubt there are any FF exclusive conventions. They are likely put under the "Square Enix" umbrella at any convention. Found this with a quick Google, just look into the ones near you.
