So even though the film wasn't much like your classic Final Fantasy genre, did you catch a few things that were hinting at the Final Fantasy games?
Of course, there was a Dr. Cid (only it's spelt as Sid). We all know that one.
Chocobos have also been sighted (one on a man's briefcase, the other on Aki's pajamas, which I find kinda funny).
Aki also bares a very slight resemblance to Yuna.
And there were definately a lot of FF7 hints in there. One being the whole "dream" sequence, when Gray and Aki see what happened to the aliens. Kind of similiar to the Lifestream scene in FF7 between Cloud and Tifa.
Then there was the meteor that hit the planet and caused the Phantoms to take over, similiar to the meteor and Jenova in FF7.
The characters of course have to go into the meteor's crater to defeat the creatures that threaten to destroy the world, just like in FF7.
And that whole scene on the cliff in the crater between Aki and Gray is very similiar to the last FMV in FF7 between Cloud and Tifa.
Then there's the Gaia reference. It's the name of the world in Final Fantasy IX, it's the name of the spirit of the world in the movie.
I think all things conscidered, there was quite a lot of FF-related things in this movie. What do you guys think?
