FFXIV: Why Do I Want to Play It?

So it's no big secret that I wasn't a fan of FFXI. The gameplay involved standing toe-to-toe with another beastie and waiting 30 seconds + until it was your turn to attack. Parties were a bear to find. Everything was so expensive I could barely afford anything... so I basically had to run into battle in my underwear time and time again, which of course meant I died time and time again... which means I kept deleveling.

It wasn't a fun experience for me. I really never got into the gameplay... and I hate how it felt like I could only explore the world an inch at a time (as I slowly built up the experience to fight new baddies). Even so, the immersion was top notch.

I feel like FFXIV is worth another try. I'm not sure if it'll be the MMORPG for me... but I really want to experience having a "me" in an FF setting. It just doesn't seem like the gameplay changed much since last time. Anyone else who dislike FFXI want to try FFXIV?
 
FFXIV

I, myself, was a HUGE fan of the FFXI game. After spending quite a large part of 5 years on the title, I gained the highest possible level on it with 4 job roles.
I totally agree with what you say regarding the economic structure in the game. It was a pain in the rump, but it was not far off from the economy that we have in our reality. Work hard, earn money, gone in seconds.
The whole "earn experiance before you explore" method of gaming is a good way, yet restrictive. If you could travel to the highest reches of a game, without having the required strength and die, you would then proceed to blame the game developers of making it too explorative for the newer players.
 
Final Fantasy XI focused on alot of unique concepts in comparison to MMORPGs like World Of Warcraft, Aion, etc. Final Fantasy XIV will only continue the trend of giving us a nontraditional MMORPG. I will play this game simply because of that... well that and my undying devotion to all things Final Fantasy.
 
Because i hope it will be an upgraded FFXI.
I think FFXI is one if not the best MMORPG (at least it was when i stopped playing) and i never found any other MMO that i liked as much as FFXI.

Expensive.. work for your money! :)
What is the value of items if you can get everything you want when you want?

I liked the fact that you can only explore a tiny bit of the world at the beginning, gives you the drive to progress so you can explore more.

Final Fantasy XIV is completely independent from Final Fantasy XII. The battle system, the characters, the world, the story etc, they're all different. :)
 
FFXI to FFXIV

i spent a large amount of time on FFXI and loved it even to this day, i have stopped palying it as i got annoyed with the next lot of levels and free gear u can get that is better than any other on game, i had 6 jobs at full level with all sorts of changeable gear so i felt like i had done all i wanted to do.

but i cant wait for FFXIV to arrive at my door lol mainly because i think it will be SO much better as FFXI was more of a party ONLY game ... i mean i solo'd but only with jobs that where built for soloing.


i have no idea about story so far but i think it is all on the main website from square enix as i have looked at all the jobs but not yet the story and so on.

Iwould like to play final fantasy XIV

I would like to play it because its an online game which are very fun and i don't get to play that much :tidus::jecht:
 
Happened exactly the same to me, and I don't know why I'm SO excited over FFXIV... I even bought the Collector's Edition :V
Somehow i'm sure I'll love it.
 
i also didnt like ffxi for some reason eg deleveling,hard to earn money,difficult to play, expenssive items,slow combat,bad controls etc.
BUT this game was the only mmo that it was so immersive.
It is the only mmo that i reached 17 hours of straight gameplay.(after that is was like dead)
Anyway im gonna give a try to ffxiv as Gw2 is not released yet and who knows i may like it in the end.As soon as it doesnt has the above dissadvantages ffxi had it would be nice to try.
