Okay, so I'm in chapter 11, and I ran into a very good spot for grinding. I run up this hallway, and a door opens during a cutscene, revealing a
Juggernaut
. I saw the item node near it, and my eyes lit up.

10 tries later, and I gave up. I'm not sure if my party isn't strong enough, or if I'm doing something wrong. I've tried having a constant Sentinel to take the hits, but sometimes it manages to even kill Fang (my sentinel) in one hit! I've also tried to keep a saboteur on it, so it keeps using that "steam clean" move, but it instead uses moves MORE POWERFUL than the cannonball one!

For reference, my character levels are 4/3/3, approaching 4/4/3. I have a tier 2 weapon for Lightning (Helter-Skelter), a maxed tier 1 weapon for Fang, and a level 1 tier 1 weapon for Vanille (I know...).

hey dude, theres probly no real way of defeating it in chapter 11, the earliest you can possibly defeat a Juggernaut is in chapter 12 when your stronger. you can come back to this one in chapter 13 and beat it then for the item. when i face them i use a COM, RAV, SEN (Delta Attack paradigm) to begin and switch to RAV, RAV, SEN (Mystic Tower paradigm) to build up the stagger chain and switch over to COM, MED, SEN (Soldarity paradigm) when i need to heal. this way you always have a sentinel in place (i perfer fang) to take most of the damage while someone attacks (lightning for me) and you have a second attacker or a healer (vanille) to keep everyone going. also i control fang and when it looks kinda bad i summon Bahamut while he's staggered and use mega flare lvl3 to do over 100,000 dmg plus restore the party to ful health.

also the mega flare lvl3 attack is a good, easy way to earn the Limit Breaker trophy / acheivements if you havent already.

hope tis helps you out some. happy gaming!! :awesome:

I'm not sure it is actually possible, I was reading through the guide when I was in Chapter 12 and I'm sure one of the statements in it mentions something about "This is the first real chance you have to take down a juggernaut" so I'd keep clear of it for time being, since you can explore Gran Pulse some more after you beat the final boss just go back for it then :)

I killed the exact same one in Chapter 11. But that was after hours of level grinding in the plains area so all my party members had 5000+ HP. I think what I did was...

Lightning -- Medic/ Sazh -- Synergist/ Fang -- Sentinel
Lightning -- Commando/ Sazh -- Synergist/ Fang -- Sentinel
Lightning -- Commando/ Sazh -- Ravager/ Fang -- Sentinel
Lightning -- Commando/ Sazh -- Commando/ Fang -- Commando
Lightning -- Commando/ Sazh -- Ravager/ Fang -- Saboteur
Lightning -- Ravager/ Sazh -- Ravager/ Fang -- Commando

whenever my HP reached perilous levels I'd just switch to the first one and wait 'til everyone heals up while Fang soaks up damage. Having a synergist got me Haste and Enthunder...which I think Juggernauts are weak to. I think they're susceptible to 'Slow', 'Deprotect' etc. too which makes it a lot easier.
Overall you're going to have to stagger it multiple times in order to beat it.

I actually killed the Juggernaut in chapter 11, but it took me a good 10 tries or so, and the winning try alone took 27 minutes. Not easy at all. Even in chapter 12, they're still pretty tough.
