Unfortunately I'm not a fantastic lightning-quick gamer with super-sharp reflexes. Still, despite it's difficulty the story of Final Fantasy XIII has kept my enthralled and so I've managed to reach Chapter 13.

It's impossible.

Every enemy is like a god damn boss. I just managed to beat the Jabberwocky and Bandersnatch in that Cathedral and now I literally am unable to make my way through Orphan's Cradle.

I'm using Lightning, Snow and Vanille, and so perhaps I need to change up my party? Everyone's main original roles have been maxed out as I did some serious grinding on Gran Pulse, so I can only conclude that I have the potential to beat this game but not the capabilities.

What's the best thing to do? I really want to complete this wonderful game to see how it ends and to see it through. I wish Square Enix had included a difficulty slider or something akin to that.

FFXIII is more tactical really, you just have to find the monsters weakness, get the strategy guide to help you out or look online, as soon as you discover the right tactics to use you will be sorted

I 've been getting the shoes you get from breaking down the crown, a rare drop from mission 7. Then you upgrade those for autohaste.
You get a scarf then upgrade it, I don't recall which one and you get a full atb bar to start combat with.
Little things like those probably help along with getting the synthesis items that give your characters special abilities. I'm working on getting those so it looks like it will be a while before I feel comfortable enough to return to Coccoon.

You have to train harsh. I have no idea of what your status is at but try to complete 3/4 of your present levels.

You might as well balance your party team. I usually use Light, Hope and Fang. Both light and hope have healing, hope has also synergist and fang saboteur so try to use it in your advantage.

id suggest you change your party to Lightning, Fang, Hope. Lightning for ravager, Fang for commander/sentinel, and Hope as a synergist/medic. I didnt use Fang untill chapter 13 and i regret it because she makes it a lot easier. She has a very strong attack and high HP. But just start battles and have Hope hit you with haste and buff your whole party up, then attack, and when needed hope will heal you up as well.

^^ Are you trying to imply this is the easiest final fantasy game? Because I don't think thats true at all not even close.

TO the orginal poster my advice would be this... It doesn't appear like you have a synergist in your party if you only have those three's main branches.. Dont underestimate synergist! Haste is your friend, so is protect, shell, bravery, faith etc...

Towards the end of the game I find it best to start out with the even odds paradagram until all the debuffs and buffs are cast then hack through.. It should make the battle go much smoother..

Imo sentienls are the worst, THey are good for certain situations but more often then not i find them worthless..

My first playthrough I always let Hope do buffs and make sure Fang does debuff at the enemies, you might have one healer ready. (I had Lightning)
Then switch to com/ rav/ rav
If your HP gets low have two meds ready and fang maybe sentinel
If the debuffs go away just have Fang do debuffs and the rest attacks with rav or com.
Then just switch to Com/ rav/ rav or com/com rav again, it depends on the enemy.

I have a lot of physical + and magic resistance + accessories, Fang strength + and auto-haste
And Fang had the weapon that alows the debuffing go faster.

My best advice is to:

Upgrade your weapons. Pick the members of your party according to their strength and your preferences and search the net and find what weapons work best for the roles that you want them to play in your party. My final party was Hope, Fang, and Vanille. I upgraded their weapons up one level each and Fang was a commando so I gave her the taming pole (which was a more offensive weapon)...Vanille I gave a belladonna wand because I used her in a Debuffing role the most (which I really think you need towards the final battles) and Hope was a medic so I gave him the Vidinofir because that was supposed to boost his defense.

Grind. Grind away at Gran Pulse. If I've ever had problems in any game I've ever played, it was either because I lacked the appropriate strategy or because I didn't have enough exp. under my belt. If you think you have the right strategy then all you really need to do is some grinding.

Hope this helps and good luck! :monster:

I'm very close to the end now.Without the upgraded weapons and accessories I would have been toast.
I don't see how people claim , as some do, that they've been successful without doing anything at Pulse.
It's mandatory.

Woah. This Game Is Not Difficult, Saying That, It's No Walk In The Park Either. If You Beat Every Enemy At Least Once Through The Story There is No Need For Grinding. Of Course You Can Skip One Or Two Here And There, But Seriously I Did It This Way And Beat Orphan on my First Attempt, Along with every other boss/eidolon . Although I Have Finally Reached The Point Where I Am Actually Stuck. I CANT BEAT MISSION 62 OR 64 AND THEY ARE THE LAST I NEED i have missions 1-61 and 63 all done on 5 stars. and i cant beat the others. any tips ? on stradegies for either?? Lol :/

I certainly don't agree with this claim....

so this fellow got lucky with Orphan.
Good for him.But you can't expect it to happen to everybody. If you read comments on youtube about the orphan videos you can see a lot of people had problems beating him that first time.

I have that problem so I are beefing up before I try again.

Of course as far as hard missions are concerned you can use death. If it works for you.I finally got it to work but it's not guaranteed to work all the time.
I assume it won't work on Orphan. I haven't tried it on him yet although I may if I continue to have problems beating him.

:hmm:

FFXIII isn't very hard, but I have read that if you aren't prepared bosses can kill you easily.

Other than the Post-Game I've never had any trouble.

As for death, it's rate of working is so low you would probably be better off just killing the enemies without worrying about using death at all.
