Help FFXIII: Have I Taken Mission 30 to Early?

So, I took the Syphax mission and tracked around like a headless chicken yet can't seem to find how to get to the part of the map where he is, do you need to do other shit before you can get to him?
 
No you need to ride Atomos and then ride it back to Mahabarra. Atomos is the big rock Fal cie if you are confused.

Have to track back from Tei'jins Tower now. <_<

If you stay in Tei'jins Tower and on floor 4 or 5 there is mission I believe 24.....the monster spawns in the same room and you can do it over and over again...decent exp and the drop the Moonblossom seed that sells for 6k Gil each :). Not a bad gil maker :P a little slower maybe but less deadly and consistant.
