One more platform-exclusive title may be going multiplatform, it has been revealed. The latest news appears to be that Square Enix's latest epic role-playing game, Final Fantasy XIII, may follow other titles--including Saints Row, Assassin's Creed, and Devil May Cry 4--that have now been announced as appearing on at least one other platform as well.

Sony Computer Entertainment France president Georges Fornay dropped the bombshell in an interview with French-language newspaper Les Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace (subscription required). He said, "The development costs of games have exploded, and it has become more difficult to have exclusives, outside of our own games. But we have for launch day [in France] 30 games, including MotorStorm, Resistance: Fall of Man, and Virtua Fighter 5. Moreover, we are expecting 200 games [for the PS3] by the end of 2007...As far as Final Fantasy XIII goes, I can tell you that the exclusivity is in discussion."

He could be wrong, he doesn't have to be wrong.

What are your thoughts on it, if it did happen?

Ah, damnit. I searched for it and I still overlooked it... Could a Moderator please lock it or delete it.

Thank you.

I think there's quite a good chance that FFXIII will end up on other platforms besides the PS3. Unfortunaly I doubt we'll see it on the Wii (shame) but I can so see it on the 360. I don't have a 360 or a PS3 but I'd get either one if it had FFXIII and the 360 is cheaper so... sony could be in trouble there...

I personally would like it. I already have an Xbox and I just dont know that i really want a PS3 at this point. I mean Im sure i'll end up with it at some point but it's so darn expensive and i could really care less about blu ray or whatever, that is the reason it's so expensive. I think it would be great if FFs werent exclusives anymore.

well with this multiplatform game everybody is playing ... really seems that in the near future there probably wont be much need of having more than one console, if everybody is doing this for money ... and once that happens, what are they going to do then, when only one or two consoles are left to dev. for ..... i forsee a lot of companies going the way of the doo doo bird ...
