1: are you able to change characters in combat like you can with x and xii?? or does his "Paridigm shift" or whatever its called eliminate the need to use all characters,

in other words are we back to the more viable option being to just stick with 3 characters through the whole game?

secondly, ive watched a couple videos and i still dont compleetly understand the system, can anyone please detail how thos "class" system and "leveling" system works? it would appear that each character can actively SWITCH roles/abilities mid fight... does that mean you are able to fulfill every roll with each character? when you level do you get points to spend in "each roll" evenly, or can you stack all your points on one role, say sentinal for snow, and then after start dumping into Comando and stuff?

thanks

Basically, for about the first half of the game, you're forced to use particular characters in your party (for the sake of the story and such), but you'll eventually decide what characters you want in your party. However, you can't switch characters in and out in mid battle.

You only control the leader character (and the little kick in the pants is if the party leader dies, it's game over automatically; although FFXIII now has a nifty retry function if you die in battle, so meh) and the AI will control the other two characters, but you have some control over this be designating what role each character plays.

The 6 roles are: Commando, Ravager, Medic, Synergist (spelling?), Saboteur, and Sentinal.

Commando attacks with the weapon; Ravager attacks with magic spells; Medic heals the party's HP; Synergist supports the party with protect, shell, etc; Sabateur weakens the enemy with slow, poison, etc; Sentinal attracts the enemies attacks away from the other party members.

The game will give you better in-game tutorial, so it should be easy to grasp the purpose of each role and how to utilize them and such :hmmm:

In general, you plan a head of time what paradigm shifts you want to use. You're allowed up to 6 combos for each party, but I think it reset when you switch up the party members >_<

So let's say you have a Commando-Ravager-Medic combo as the default paradigm shift to start the battle with. You want to stagger the enemy, so you switch to a Commando-Ravager-Ravager combo, or whatever.

(Note: Each combo has an appropriate name for it ;D)

The level up system is a little like FFX. You earn CP points to use to gain abilities and increase attributes, and yes, you can just focus them onto one role/job if you want. Each character will start off with 2-3 of those roles/jobs but eventually everyone can learn everything, so it kind of works out that way in the beginning anyways xD

Also, the higher you level the role, the more CP you have to start using. Although that's similar to leveling, but it kind of annoyed me Dx

Did that help? D=

perfect thanks :-)

with the reading ive done, im thinking Snowe, Hope, Lightning(or fang, not sure) as sentinel/comando, medic/ravager/synergist, comando/?/? dunno yet, guess ill have to play to lern
