FFXII: Gambits and you?

Sorry bout the title! lol.

Anyway, I just wanted some opinions on these, just so I can get a rough idea of how to set things up.

I've been taking my time on the game, though it has been torture. But I'm trying to get things sorted out b/f i get into some serious stuff.

Here are the people I have, and who is what:

Vaan: Fighter
Basch: Fighter
Balthier: Backup Fighter
Fran: Mage
Ashe: Mage
Penelo Backup Mage

So I basically was just wanting some ideas on who should have what gambits.

That is similar to how I have mine but I had it broken down to healers, mage, battlemages. I had a little difficult time leaving Ashe just a pure mage so I have now moved her into the battlemage.

As for gambits, I love the ones that remove ailments. Especially specific ones. Like ally: confuse or something like that and I would have it set to the specific magic to remove it, esana or item. I also use the HP ones a lot for different stages in a battle to help with the mana consumption of one character. I can spread it out some. I haven't used the MP ones yet because currently I'm trying to make sure I save up Ethers but will start using them to do charges. Hope this helps. I'm still kinda new to the game and learning as I go. My characters are only between levels 28-30.

Thats definately one way of doing it....I mean, I can basically just have everyone with the same stuff, just different weapons....that part I can handle...just the gambits for them is driving me nutts! lol
 
I'm at work but I'll do the best to remember some of the Gambits I use. Right now I'm currently at Pharon's Tower, lvl 60-63 with main party so I may have more gambits available for now.

Fran is set up to be my Bow/whitemage/blackmage girl , her gambits include:

Ally HP < 40 % health - Curaga
Ally HP < 30% - Curaja (This is only on during rough fights)
Status Ally = Oil - Ensuna
Status Ally = Sleep - Ensuna
Status Ally = Disable - Ensuna
Status Ally = Stop - Dispel

I don't use Protect/Shell/Haste/Bravery/Faith/Bubble Gambits, because they always suck up my 1/4th of my MP before I get to a boss.

I only turn on Steal Gambits when it's neccessary - I hate when Vaan never gets his MP back due to stealing from multiple enemies.

Basch I have set up pretty much the same way, cept with a few more status things..

Ally HP < 30% - Curaja (This is only on during rough fights)
Status Ally = Sleep - Ensuna
Status Ally = Disable - Ensuna
Status Ally = Stop - Dispel
Status Ally = Disease - Cleanse
 
You can condense most of the status ailment gambits to Ally:Any - Esuna to save some gambit slots. Disease, Slow, Stop, and a few others can't be removed with Esuna however.
