dosent that mean that you could use your old hard drive that you used for playing FFXI on PS2?It's got nothing to do with backwards compatibilitity. Final Fantasy XI requires that you install it on a darhdrive in order to play. After installing it on the harddrive, you no longer need the CD to play. That being said, it doesn't matter if the PlayStation 3 allows backwards compatibility, because now it's entirely up to the harddrive and hardware insdie the PlayStation 3. Square Enix said that the harddrive being used by the PlayStation 3 will not be compatible with Square Enix's server-side software.
Does anyone know if they are going to make FFXI available for the PS3? And if so will you be able to use your current character that you have from the PS2?
