Help [FFX] Need a little help finding Pennance

Hey guys, I've been having a hard time finding Pennance the optional boss that's meant to appear once you defeat every Dark Aeon, but the thing is I've beaten all of the dark aeons and he hasn't appeared, though I beat Dark Yojimbo repeatedly and he always comes back (even after I beat the bastard all 4 times throughout the cave) is there something I'm missing to beat Dark Yojimbo or is there a 5th fight against him?

It's a common mistake to miss the 5th Yojimbo fight. I can't remember the exact pathway specifically anymore, but be absolutely sure that after every encounter, you:

A) don't 'save' your progress (though you can select the sphere to heal, then leave without saving), and;
B) ensure you've travelled through each 'alley' that you can walk/run through


As you run back through one of the paths, you'll encounter the additional Yojimbo fight. It's no different from the others, so don't expect the worst. xD

I think it's after the second battle, you have to go to the green-lit room for the third one. If you do all five battles, the monk's reaction at the end is different, and you will then get a cut-scene introducing Penance.

Ok I've done all that, and still no pennance . I've made sure all the Dark Aeons are beaten (like checked a hundred times) Dark Yojimbo is finally defeated after I found the fifth fight with him. Is there any sidequests I'm missing? Or do I have to have the right version of the game (Like EU, JAP, PAL, NTSC all that jazz)?

^ If you've got dark aeons, you should have Penance.
Did the monk do what Kitab said? Change reaction and introduce Penance?

Have you fought both Dark Ixion fights as well?
You could try going outside the cave, or just check the menu on the Airship.

He appears as a destination on the airship, have you tried checking that?

Go and double check that you've beaten every Dark Aeon.

Dark Valefor: Just outside the town of Besaid
Dark Ifrit: Where Al Bhed home used to be
Dark Ixion: Thunder Plains, north. 1st fight, talk to a monk under a tower. 2nd fight is hard to miss. (Note: saving and reloading does NOT reset the fights against him, you can do the first, save, then come back for the second later)
Dark Shiva: Outside Macalania Temple
Dark Bahamut: Where you fought Yunalesca
Dark Anima: Mt Gagazet, first, redo the trial where Wakka throws his ball at a target, then go to just before where you fought Biran and Yenke
Dark Yojimbo: Go to the back of the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth via the teleporter and walk out from there
Dark Magus Sisters: Standing around on Mushroom Rock Road

If all of them are gone, Penance should be available as a destination on your airship, at the top of the list.
