Hi everyone, It's not my first time playing this game, but it is my first time completing it. I am planning on playing all the way through to the end without stopping. I thought I could post my progress here for everyone to see and then we could all discuss it together.


Okay, the story so far :-

I have beaten the first section were you play as Vivi Zidain and Rusty.
I also managed to defeat the giant plant thing and it's boss then got chased out of the forest by the paralasis effect.
I have accessed the world map *victory fan-fare*

Okay so the first thing I want to ask people about in this game is Zidain... wtf?
Why does he have a monkey tail? - I know it's final fantasy but there should be some explanation. Is he a different race? Then why does he look and act so human. If he's human wtf is he doing with a monkey tail and what happened to the poor monkey who he stole it from.

The final thing im going to ask is this-
In the part were Vivi is given the anti plant seed medicine, where is it pored? Does he have a mouth? If so where is it? How could Blank see the mouth if it's ever there.

To answer the first question would spoil some of the game, so like Begbie said, we'll let you discover that for yourself.

As to the second question, for some reason I thought it was rubbed on his body, and not ingested? Maybe I'm misremembering/making stuff up.
 
First question - that would be spoiling a big plot point. Rest assured he did not steal it from a monkey XD

Second question - I think Vivi does have a mouth (after all, how does he talk otherwise!), but you just don't see it, his face is always hidden in shadow and you only see his eyes.

Zidain's tail - Fair enouph, I didn't know if it would be like a huge thing or if it was just never explained
Vivi's 'mouth' - I did assume it was like a kind of comedy, 'its so dark you can only see his eyes' style thing, but just thought I'd ask oppinions

I have reached the Ice caves and defeated the strange wizard thing and his giant ice worm creature.
I have exited the cave and have given the princess a new name
.

Playing through FFIX- good choice- it is one of my favourite FF games and terribly underrated.

You'll come to your answer about Zidane's tail much later on the game, so look forward to it! It is as the others have said, a big spoiler if we reveal the reason. I assume in your last playthrough you didn't get far enough- so get there this time ;)

I never tend to think about Vivi that much. He must have a mouth because I remember Steiner drinking the medicine and realising it's not as bad as he thought. So Vivi has to drink it somehow. He has to have a mouth and nose- to speak, eat, drink and breathe.

The beginning bit after Alexandria tends to bore me a lot- until I get to Lindblum!
 
Yeah Zidane's tail can be kind of strange on you at first, but after a while it will grow on you. You will begin to get used to him having a tail more. Like the others have said above. It would be a spoil if we said anything about it.. =p

The Vivi mouth question ?, never much thought about it. But always wonder how the dude actually spoke. How can you speak when it looks like that you have no mouth ? 0_o
 
Final Fantasy IX is a great game, you're probably gonna enjoy it all the way through the entire game. I never understood why so many people dislike Final Fantasy IX. It's the best out of all of them, IMO.

How do you like the game so far? And how far have you gotten before?

hahaha you really think I would give that away. Finish the game first.
In answer to the second question:

Well if vivi can talk than he must have a mouth somewhere.
 
Hello everyone, I must apoloigise for the lack of updates to the completetion diary, if anyone was watching.

After christmas my laptop broke so I havn't been able to post about the game, as such I havn't been playing much. But I now have a working computer and will now be able to update. Thanks to everyone who has posted so far, it's gr8 to have people to talk too
