FF XIV chocobo questions

Is it true that the option of gaining a chocobo is available for every player?

Do players get a chocobo in egg stage, or baby stage, or in adult stage?

Do chocobos come in both genders? male or female? (I want a female chocobo)

Like in FF VII and FF IX, Could players evolve their chocobos to become a golden chocobo?

Like in FF VII, could players enter their chocobos into races?

Everyone is able to get a chocobo, yes. I can't imagine how painful it would be to traverse some of the environments in the game if you weren't able to! Even with the mount it's painfully slow sometimes. It's an adult when you get it, I suppose? You can get a baby choco minion though I think. No idea about gender. I don't even think that's a thing honestly. Same goes for "evolving"... though you can feed it certain foods while stabled and it will change colour (mine is snow white). Plus you can train it. No idea about racing.

Only been playing a couple of months so I might be mistaken about some of this. But there you go

You will get a quest at around level 20 to get a chocobo through a grand company, which you will learn about as you progress, it will require you 'paying' with GC seals, think you need about 2000. Again, all explained as you progress
