Hello.

I've been playing FFVIII on a 40GB PS3 and I've ran into a problem of some kind.

When I finished Disc 2, I was asked to put Disc 3 in (DuhH). When I did that, it kept saying that I inserted a wrong Disc. I figured my disc was dirty, so I cleaned it and put back into my PS3... Sadly, it kept giving me a wrong disc message...

Did anyone else who played FFVIII on the PS3 had the same problem? Or can it be that after 8 years the disc might be broken?

I really hope someone replies soon...

It's probably just that your disc is really old. The game lags horribly for me when I get to the part of the game where the party attempts to assassinate the sorceress.

That, and sometimes my first disc doesn't like to work at all randomly.

I also heard that FFVIII isn't fully compatible with the PS3, so there's bound to be some glitches. Just keep trying is all I can say.

I have also run into that problem, maybe because my disk is old as well? But I am a neat freak and always took really good care of my disks so all my FF look like they are new so maybe its just a glitch. I am also running into the problem other people are having with FF9 where the few intros are laggy and the bomb explosion over the air ship after the play freezes. Perhaps just a compatibility issue but either way very frustrating.

For some reason my game whenever I'm on disk 1 or 2 just randomly freezes for no point whatsoever.

When the PS3 first came out I heard there were compatibility issues with the old FF games. I haven't tried my VIII yet, but my Tactics doesn't recognize the Sixaxis controller for some reason. There WOULD be issues with the old games I want to play the most...

I've been trying to get my disk 3 to work, still nothing... The weird thing is that Disc 3 doesnt work (well.. it gives the Playstation logo and thats all) but Disc 4 seems to work fine!

I'm hoping that Disc 3 is just broken, I'll find out tomorrow when I'm getting my friends version of the game...

For those interested, I'll post wheter the game works or not!

Oh and I've a question... Did anyone completed FFVIII on PS3 before?

Didn't realise the 40GB version had any backwards compatibility..

Well, I went to my friend's home and played Disc 3 (which didnt work on PS3) on his playstation 2... so my disc 3 wasn't broken, but my game wasnt compitable with my 40GB PS3!

So I don't recomment playing FFVIII on your PS3.. I dont know if the 60GB has the same problem tho...

I read somewhere that sometime soon Sony are going to release free updates to allow you to play a more variety of PS1+PS2 games on the PS3 console.
Hopefully this is true.
