FF Versus XIII Development Time Will Be Shorter News - Looking at 2011 Release!

Square Enix's Yoshinori Kitase told Kotaku at Gamescom this week that development time on Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be "comparatively faster" than that of the core entry, Final Fantasy XIII. That reassuring update to the more action-oriented entry in the Fabula Nova Crystallis project came after Kitase said that the time to model characters and enemies in FFXIII was taking about one-third the time it did at the beginning of the project.

We knew that some Versus team members had been pulled off that project to work on XIII, and Kitase said that the team's "knowledge and experience" gained from their work will help ensure Versus is out faster.

If Kitase's "comparatively faster" estimate is accurate, we'll hopefully see Versus XIII by 2011, give or take, since the game and Final Fantasy XIII have been in development for at least five years, maybe more. Still a long way out, but at least Final Fantasy XIV should be out by then, giving fans something to do in the in-between.

Oh yes if this comes out in 2011 that would be great. If its very late 200 that would be even better. I have not heard lots of information on Versus XIII but it looks like it will ne cool and evil looking. So yes If its faster than XIII in development it should come out before you know it. I HOPE THEY DONT MAKE IT ON 360 TOO. I NEED MORE PS3 GAMES!

Anyway, I am not to excited about the game at the moment as there are no enough info and it most likely will be ARPG, which isn't really my type of game.

Yeah I was just reading about this on that Final Fantasy XIII forum. Really, waiting until 2011? I had seriously hoped this game would be out late next year. *disappointed* I'm so eager for this game, not to mention intrigued by what we've seen and heard so far. It'll be interesting to see just how much more fast this game's development will be compared to FFXIII.

Isn't that what eveyone says? That it'll be more like an "action" game.
Most likely like KH. So Action-RPG... like KH.

I don't know why most people think so (I am not good with news, too lazy to read them) but it seems to be the truth.

well itll be a ps3 game for sure ssoo dont worry i dont mind if it goes to 360, more fans will buy, and maybe we get more shit if SE has more money . anyway this wait is facking ridculous but i cant complain if the game is goin to be good. shitty thing is im more interested in this game than ff13 :S

I'm really excited and have high expectations for both of these games... so if this means they can get Versus out faster but still maintain the same quality, then I'm all for it. I just don't want them to rush it and possibly ruin it to get it released closer to FF13.

What little info there is does seem to indicate that Versus will be an Action RPG a la Kingdom Hearts.

A 2011 release makes sense. That way it won't be stealing any thunder from Final Fantasy XIII. I could also see Square using the gap between the 2 releases to gauge whether or not the Xbox 360 version of FF XIII generates enough interest for them to consider putting Versus out on the Xbox as well. That's just speculation on my part though.

Because Nomura's compared the gameplay/battle system to KH at least a few times now. Still, we don't know how alike it is to KH, but given the drop ins about "elements of Dirge", and the fact that several characters seem to have a thing with firearms, it's very likely that it will be another ARPG.

I just hope the quicker release date doesn't mean lesser quality. Versus XIII is the first project from SE that I've been excited about in a while.
