I mainly listen to Rock & Roll so that's what my list will mainly consist of... but this is open to any style or genre of music. Basically just list bands that have an awesome song(s) that you love but the band itself is not very popular.

A great first example is "Black Betty" by Ram Jam. I'm not sure I've ever met a hardcore Ram Jam fan but yet I love the band for that one song. If you've ever seen the music video, it's probably one of the dumbest things you'll ever watch. It's on the same level of stupidity as bushdiving or backyard wrestling... but it's still a great song and that's why I love Ram Jam.

I'll put T-Rex as honorable mention because I'm pretty sure that every rocker knows the song "Bang the Gong (Get it On)" even if they're not huge fans of the band in general.

I have lots, and the fact that I listen to a crapload of classic rock bands makes this that much easier to list. xD

The Monkees - not really, but their songs were pretty darn awesome to listen to. And I don't mean that it's all rocking and headbanging, but it's just nice, melodic music to listen to, what they produced.

The Applejacks - No one's ever heard of them, but I love their songs none the same.

More, but I forget the other ones. -_-

I could list so much that people would probably fall asleep. But this seems like a good place to rant about something that's been bugging me, people on forums like this all have very similar tastes in music, I've found that a LOT of people will reply to an AFI thread or a crappy "Rate The Band Above You" Thread or something of the like, but quite a few threads of good artists go ignored. But a Pink Floyd thread gets only just over 30 Posts in it, It makes me wonder, people just dismiss stuff they've never heard of before and don't even try it. I mean, I posted a Liszt thread not long ago, it's got no replies and a pittance of views, it would be nice to hear feedback from people about things here and there, even if it's negative feedback, it shows the person has been open minded enough to at least try an artist they've never heard of.

I listen to so much underground death metal, grindcore, black metal, crust punk, stoner rock stuff that it would DEFINITLEY put people to sleep....so I'm not even going to post a list, maybe when I have more time I might post a short one, but not right now.

Hmm, I hate Grindcore.
I'll post a list however.

Well here's a list metal I like, none of which is really that popular.

I like the Spiderbait version of Black Betty

I'm almost ashamed to say it but I do like some My Chemical Romance.

:shame:

I wouldn't really say Queen are unpopular though, Freddy Mercury is widely regarded as a great entertainer and Brian May is just as equally regarded for his guitar work.

I'm right into the bands 'Making April' and 'Mayday Parade' these days, with both of them coming from America and having extremely different sounds.

I'd also like to take this oppurtunity to shamelessly plug-in my friends band, B Raymond and the Voicettes. They are as yet unsigned, but that will be remedied soon [:
Ooooooooooh aye, the band I'll be in soon has some snazzy stuffs too [:

It was quite funny actually, the people who were presenting the highlights of the festival called it "The war on emo"

Basically they came out, started playing, and hundreds of people were so offended by their music that they threw bottles. :D

They have grown on me quite a bit though, I saw them play a song for some MTV awards show and they really impressed me.

I like Take That, Mika and Fall Out Boy. Ive always loved Take That since I was a kid, Mikas songs make me smile, specially "Big Girls" and Ive liked FOB for many years now. Id say I like MCR also, but I dont see them as unpopular.

But you view FoB, Take That and Mika as unpopular? WTF?

To all my friends, these guys are unpopular. I dont seem them as unpopualr, no. But this is the Unpopular music thread and Im stating the ones I like as unpopular by others.
