I've seen the 'Top 5 games Ps2' and stuff at the top, but I'm interested in hearing peoples' opinions on just graphics for the original Playstation.

Rules and Blah

- List at least 2 games to somewhat give a range of graphics.
- Series don't count, only specific games.
- CGI scenes don't count (WHAT?!) only gameplay level graphics.
- Storyline and characters have nothing to do with this, ONLY graphics (for you hard headed posters)

As for me:

1. Metal Gear Solid - I love this style of graphics. Somewhat dark and mysterious, you never get a good view of the face, yet the detail on the weapons is well done. A little glitchy in areas, but overall very well done in my opinion.

2. Chrono Cross - SO colorful! The world map looks like a painting (which I love), and the clothing is pretty detailed on each character. This takes second because everytime I play it I end up running around the world map just to look at it.

3. Front Mission 3 - All player-controlled gameplay is spent in battle, which looks very nice. Highly detailed weaponry and vehicles (can't remember what they are called) as well as map layouts makes everything look crisp.

More to come!

Well tbh the only games I've played for PSX are FFs VII, VIII, and IX, but even the difference between VII and IX is pretty vast, I think. In VII I had a very difficult time figuring out where to go on the screen, as far as getting around obstacles and finding entrances to the next screen; whereas in IX it was much, much easier due to a higher level of detail in the dungeons and the towns. So overall, even though I thought the graphics in VII were somewhat cute and endearing, I preferred the smoother graphics of IX for practical reasons :)

^ Yea, I agree with you about the difference in graphics from VII - IX. I prefer IX's myself because it's a lot more colorful than the previous FF's in the PSX era. I left FF out of my list mainly because it's FF, and they always have pretty nice graphics, but if that's all you played on the psx then of course use those!

I think you would be crazy not to mention Metal Gear Solid in there. I think I would happily mention Final Fantasies too.

In no order I would say:

Metal gear Solid
Final Fantasy IX
Resident Evil 2
Silent Hill
Crash Bandicoot

For Resi and SH, I think they had it down to a T to so speak. Still masters of their game snow, even if their last installents were a bit shit. Back in the day, 15 odd years ago their games are still reasonably good on eye even today.

As for Crash, I love it. Every Crash game has been amazing even if they dont change much. I think it was quite well drawn up too.
