Guess I'll try to do SOMETHING for activity in this thread.

So how do you farm? Farming was my favorite thing to do in this game. On weekends I would sit down and play the game for 2-3 days straight...no rest at all, just farming 24/7. I can do the same thing over and over for days and still find joy in it as long as I see progress.

So my question is how do you farm? Or any way you make money?

I haven't played in a few years but hopefully I can give some tips that help people with gil. I used to make between 500,000 to 1.5mil gil a day with my methods, with normal farming alone. Then on the side I'd get gil from gods and hnms.

I first started farming at level 30, I'd go into the jungle and farm tigers. I always found it stupid when people farmed lizzy and the emperor and such. They'd spend hours camping and most likely not get the claim...and even if they did things weren't guaranteed to drop. Totally not worth the gil.

At level 60+ I started to go to the Glaciers. You don't need any crafting skills for this to be effective but it always helps. I'd farm tigers, golems, dark elements, dolls, and steal gold from the goblins. With some crafting you can turn the tiger fangs and leather into stuff. As well as doll shards, gold and stack the golem items. There is an outpost up there so you can just warp home and back over and over as much as you want when you fill up. I always used drg or rng with farm with a mage subbed. Either for healing or warping. But with mobs that easy you can just plow threw em without getting hit, its just inv. space that keeps you back.

In the end I found this to be much more effective then just crafting full time. Well anyway, thats how I did it. I'm not sure how the economy is now days, but back then with this process you could get a relic weapon within months, or anything else you needed.

There was also something else I did that really helped. Heck it got me a Scorp Harness +1 (Back when it was the best and most expensive item in the game) for practically free. I played the AH until I got lucky. One day I was messing around and bidding on high price items until I got a dusk Jerkin for a little less then 1 million gil. Turned around and sold it for something like 5. Used that extra gil to buy two sniper rings +1 and within a few months the price of those doubled. So I sold them for 10mil and got myself a scorp harness+1 plus an ebow. All for the price of 1mil, and just from playing the AH. I did this a few more times with things, mostly messing with the snipers for a lil more, and most the time it worked out quite well. Very useful

Anyway, I hope I helped some of the young players out. So what are your farming tips / ways / secrets. Don't think you have to worry much, doesn't seem like we have many people on the same servers here. So you don't have to worry about somebody taking over your business.

I am in a pitiful position for money; I really HATE farming, I find it soo boring; I also have no crafting skills.
I don't even have enough money to use Chocobos at the moment.

I'm a 45 Samurai; and I have no money for gear, food or weapons.

Do you know what I could do at my level?

I don't know how the new area's fair for farming things. But at that level it was the lower level tigers and treaants. They were all in the jungle, where there were two fairly unknown NMs that pop in there as well.

With Sam, the more expensive items don't really come up until 60 so it might be good to level more so you can farm better when you really need the items. Like that beaut of a body piece.

Or you could just wait till the level 50 cap. Not sure how helpful people are now, but sometimes it takes a while to get people together to do that. So while seeking people to do that event you can farm in the meantime.

Sorry, It has been so long since I played I somewhat forgot the full names of things. Its Jugner Forest, the one with Davoi in it.
I'd farm there and Batallia Downs from 30-55, tigers in both areas. Good thing with tigers, is you can always sell em. If you don't have any crafting skills you can sell the fangs at an NPC in sandy, right near where you buy linkpearls. That way you don't have to set em on AH. Only something like 10k a stack or something I can't recall, but they add up very quickly. Can't turn without seeing a tiger and they normally drop 1-2 a kill. So its non-stop killing. People overlook it to much cause they think 10k isn't enough. But as I said, in the end I could get over 1mil a day from these steps.

For one, do BCNMs wheneever you can. BCNMs wont always get you gil, but sometimes you get lucky and they get you a lot.

and for low level farming I would try Poison leeches in Buburimu Peninsula
Bird blood has a really high drop rate, it has to be atleast 80% and sometimes they will drop 2. it may not seem like much, but they sell to NPC for 342 gil and it will really add up.

X's mark spots leeches spawn.
Just be warned that some times these are camped pretty heavy, but you should be able to find a time where you can get the area to your self and really clean up.
Good luck!

Do the rings that they use for Sniper Ring synth still drop normal? (meaning not rare/ex. I know they changed a lot of items that way after I left cause of RMT.) If not then they used to be worth a camp. Popped at a time of something like every 10 minutes. And the item used to be worth about 70% of the Sniper Ring cost. Not sure how Sniper Rings go now, but I'm sure its still a good number.

Its a NM you can find in Ordelle's Caves, which you can find in the middle upper half of La Theine Plateau. Its called Stroper Chyme and is a slime or something. But as I said, I'm not sure if they changed it after RMT's took over. So seeking it could be a dead end road. And if not, camping it was always fun. It pops so often but people will always be camping, so you've gotta learn to claim fast. Was one of the reasons I became rng and nin. After learning I could claim (voke) faster then most :) Its a good trainer if nothing else.

Stroper Chyme no longer drops Archer's ring, it drops a rare/ex ring "Shikaree Ring".

Archer's ring come from BCNM/Assault now

Damn, figured as much. I miss the good ol days before the RMT. When they showed up everybody with good armor started to get accused of buying gil. Heck, I remember a group of people passing me by WHILE I was farming, shouting out things saying that I had bought gil for my armor...pissed me off. They ruin all the hard work you put into the game.

Yeah, people are bastards.

I was in Whitegate yesterday, and someone actually shouted that anyone who uses a Haubergion+1 is just in love with their ego.
I mean WTF?
It's gonna take me AGES to save up the money for that thing xD

Ugh, I hate farming.
It's really boring and really ennoying seeing as I always never get the items. Just some useless junk I'll never use or need. >_<

I'm Blue Mage 56 and I'm just lost, farming whatever I look is easiest.

Bird Blood I did but so many people just Farm it.
