Ah yes, the exam.

Let's discuss this shall we? XD

Okay, so what was the worst exam that you had to take?
Do you hate exams or do you love them just because?
Do you think exams as your most hated enemy or your 'grade' friend?

I look at exams in a mixed sight, it's like eating broccoli, really. You know you have to take them and there's no way of avoiding it, but it's good for you.
The hardest one I had to take was the SAT, it wasn't really hard, per se, in fact I did really well on it, but thing is, 5 hours locked in a classroom really isn't all that swell. ;)

Comments?

exams are not all that bad, depending on the teacher that gives it really. In highschool i had to start my first day back to school with an exam on the summer reading assignments. the sad part is one year there were only two of us that actually read the books, and we were the only two tow fail while everyone else got an A. on the other hand when teachers teach well exams are not too bad to go through as long as you paid attention in class.

the SAT though. the first time i took it wasn't too bad, but the second time i actually fell asleep a few times while I was taking it.

That's because the SAT is the most boring exam ever devised by humankind.
I mean, come on, four and a half hours in a classroom with a meager 5 minute break is not my idea of energizing. D'=

But those summer reading assignments...ugh. I had to read a book on Mythology and the Bible over the summer last year, not pleasant. And like what happened to you, only a couple people actually read the things either, and got really good grades. I didn't fail, but I could've not read and still have gotten a good grade.

Now I'm reading The Fountainhead (700+ pages, small font), and Candide by Voltaire over the summer, plus some huge economics packet. Not fun but necessary...I hope. >.>

The worst exam i ever took was my GSCE media exam, it was 2 and a half hours long and we had to stay back after school for an hour to finish it.

the Extract we had to analyse was terrible and the questions weren't any better. the Cd cover part was just as bad. and there was lots of drawing involved. and i suck at drawing.

i think 2 people out of 60 managed to actually complete the exam. one of my friends was reduced to tears by the end of the exam.

thats how bad it was.

Yeah, usually with such a long test like that, people just zone out or get bored doing it, unless the proctor actually is supervising you. >.>

I had an exam experience quite similar to that one actually, called the AP Exam, it took us about 5 hours to finish the thing, but thankfully it was on my favorite subject, AP European History. I think I aced it because I got a 6, which is the highest score you can get on one.
But all the same, it was boring as heck...I finished about an hour and a half before the time was up.

Ugh, at least you guys didn't have to deal with state regents. New York state have final exams for each subject that you have to pass in order to go to college. Most of them weren't bad they were just time consuming. Also, the state is very strict about it, leaking any information of any of the regents will result in a fine or jail time. (I'm not too sure.) Also these regents are very random and must be taken all at the same time.

English regents was 3 essays and 4 hours, History was 4 hours and 2 essays, and 50 multiple choice. They're just a pain to study for, and very stressful before the test. The year I did one of my math regents about 7% passed of all New York state students passed it. Luckily the state curved the test.

This years AS chemistry was PURE EVIL, The whole exam was about one line of the syllabus not a well spread out exam you didnt know the answer to one you didn know the anwer to any question.

Really? An exam that is dependent on every single question...how evil. >.>

And sometimes we got tests that had no purpose whatsoever, didn't contribute to anything, and didn't 'count'.
I mean, what's the point? Why waste our time? It's still a test and it's more boring than listening to teachers rant about subject matter.

Meh, Exams where alright, as long as there where multiple choice answers.

The worst though, would be one that required multiple separate essays to be written.

Exams and me dont mix at all! On my first morning of GSCEs I vomited like crazy afew minutes into my first exam! Then all through college I was given a roomof my own as I panic when I look around adn see others writing furiously!

But at uni I overcame that as I was in a normal classroom instead of a giant hall.

Although i hate exams i hate coursework more, just this sunday i spent 8+ hours doing physics coursework and i think im gettin a blister on my thumb. I never want too see another pen again

i feel for ya! it took me a few days to do my physics coursework. though it was on the pc. glad i'll never have to do physics again :D. presuming i get a B in it >.<. if not ill have to resit my A levels all over again.

Amazingly enough I kept my calm during my GCSE's. My friends were worrying SO much and the worst part is when you get OUT of the exam and they keep talking about it...

One of my friends wouldnt shut up about the fact that in our German Listening exam, the voices were a bit muffled.

The worst one was media. We had to do 2 one and a half hour exams.
But in our mock exams, it was 1 three hour exam with no break...

But i got them out of the way this summer (for the smarter ones out there you'll notice im 16) and now i can relax... till A Level that is...

I used to give my teachers fits back in school. For some reason I would get at least B's on most of my exams, and I rarely ever studied for them. I just made sure I understood things enough during the rest of the week in order to pass them. But what got me was I was lazy; I would never do more than I felt I had to in order to pass the weekly quiz. I hardly ever did homework unless I had enough time to finish it at the end of class after all the classwork was done. So in those classes where the only aspects of your grade were from the quizzes and homework I'd either ace the quiz or get like a B, but since I wasn't turning in any homework I'd get C's and D's lol. Used to drive them nuts.

If I had the sort of drive that I do now that I've been out on my own and working for 7 years, I wouldn't have been such a lazy bastard in school lol.

Im bricking myself over my results, I think i did well in my exams, but theres always that worry that you did something stupid and end up with a U. Anybody else bricking it over results?

I'm doing my end of year exams

I've already done my math:mad:, Australian history:sick:, and I.T, and i only have 6 more to go, English, Christian Living, science, French, French Orals, and French Listening. Not looking forward to them at all! please wish me luck

Urgh, exams and coursework are like...blah, their everywhere. I do my mock exams next week, or the week after, i forget. I have to maintain my A/B grade in them too to be entered for the higher papers in june.

Maths, Science (chemistry), English, Pe theory, Geography, History, French reading, French listening and French speaking. Already done two Drama exams this year, and got an A on part one of two of my RE GCSE ^_^

English is the mock exam i have to ace though...but thats to shut up the fat woman who calls herself a "teacher" :monster:

And me and Jake are totally going to fail Chemistry :| since Adam and Lucy do all the work for us XD

Okay, so what was the worst exam that you had to take?
Wow, the worst? That's a difficult decision. Not because there have been many bad exams, but because I can't remember the last time I utterly hated an exam.

I guess French at GCSE. I hated the subject, and I knew I'd do badly. I was positive it would be my worst grade - and I was right, although I passed with a C. I also wasn't too happy about History, since I revised for the wrong exam 'til a couple of hours before, but I somehow passed with an A...

Do you hate exams or do you love them just because?

I love them, to be honest, especailly when I know the answers! I enjoy a break from school work and always find exams to be a refreshing one. It's so much different to being in lessons and listening to a teacher talk at you. You get to write for a set amount of time about something you - hopefully - enjoy and can talk about. You have the opportunity to show what skill you have, and to try to write something that will later engage and interest the examiner.

I just dislike revision and getting results! The exams themselves are usually good, unless I know I'm failing and can't do anything about it. :wacky: Okay, revision isn't TOO bad. I just never feel I've done enough, and there's always more and more to do, but I sometimes enjoy having my future in my hands. I like making notes, too, for some reason.

Do you think exams as your most hated enemy or your 'grade' friend?
Haha, neither. I think exams are just exams. They're not something I long to have, but I don't fret over them either.

I hate exam time. 1 week of just exams for every single class, trying to remember what I learned at the beginning of the year, and all the new stuff! Whats hard is when you have 2 different exams for the same class on the same day! Thats right, after you finish one exam, I have to take another one!

my worst exam was in October, the Subject was national archeology, and i have studied it two months. But most of them i like. I am looking forward for the exam in hieroglyphics...:)
