Ok i was always confused of what does easter have to with jesus like the Rabbit and the Dying of the Eggs and jesus died on the cross? but after i watched this southpark episode it got really confused if you already watched it you know what i'm talking about.

I wouldn't take South Park TOO seriously.

Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. That's all I know, to be honest. Couldn't tell yah how the egg hiding rabbit came into play.

Maybe Wikipedia has something...

Well the information didn't connect i think the rabbit and the eggs was a dud. Don't you think America has changed some of the holidays to get your mind off the main ideas.

Well, I can't see how Christmas trees and Santa Claus have to do with Jesus' birthday either, not that it even was in December, but in keeping with its pagan roots, it makes sense.

If there was a pagan holiday that "coincided" on Easter, I wouldn't be surprised at all.

christmas trees are german, or so im lead ot believe, not the trees, but the idea of having trees.
I think you are right about the commercialisation of holidays, however it would be too easy and most probably unfair to blame the USA for it

South Park tells the truth, St. Peter really was a hare. I still don't know why they had eggs at the table in The Last Supper though...

No but rly, I don't know wtf hares and eggs have to do with Easter. Some card company most likely came up with it when they figured it was more marketable than Jesus.

Yeah, pretty much. Religion becomes boring to people, or they start to realize it's silly, so along comes a company or two with some random ideas to turn it into a holiday about candy or what have you.

The Eggs are the Symbol for new life. They seem dead and useless, but they are carying life within themselfs. So Eastern is the Celebration of Jesus' Resurrection. His dead body regained his life and he went to God. Thats it and Rabbit, well i gues he should be a symbol for the Romanian Empire which hid his dead body.

The question isn't what do eggs have to do with easter, but what does Jesus? The early church co-opted a pagan fertility holiday in order to sway more pagans to the church (same as they decided on the Dec 25th date for Christmas, when the book suggests he was born in the summer). The eggs and rabbits were symbols of fertility, though the hunting for eggs spread by a bunny is definitely a new thing.

Ryushikaze hit it right on the head.

Also of interest is the fact that Easter comes from Ishtar, a pagan god, who was originally honored on the same day, before the early Christians copied the holiday. Some Christian sects choose not to celebrate Easter, as the Easter traditions, and even the name Easter itself, are traditionally meant to honor a god other than their own.
